Considered GM’s highest supplier honor, the Overdrive Award recognizes outstanding achievements in priority areas like innovation, sustainability, resilience, and relationships.

The award was presented at GM’s 34th Annual Supplier of the Year ceremony. Just eight suppliers from around 20,000 globally were chosen to receive an Overdrive Award this year, Bourns among them.

Bourns supplies automotive sensing solutions to General Motors across a range of vehicle programs.

Bourns completes acquisition of Rakon Limited.

Yesterday, we added frequency control and timing solutions to the Bourns portfolio. Rakon, headquartered in Auckland, New Zealand, has spent more than 50 years building precision crystal oscillators, filters, and timing subsystems for telecom, defense, and space applications.

What this means for our customers: a broader set of electronic component solutions, from circuit protection and power management through precision timing, backed by an expanded global R&D and manufacturing footprint across New Zealand, France, the United Kingdom, and India.

Rakon will operate as "Rakon, a Bourns Company," maintaining continuity for existing customers while gaining access to Bourns' worldwide distribution network.

🚀 Congratulations to Tom Rust on his promotion to Content Strategy and Development Manager!

Tom earned the position after 25 dedicated years as Senior Graphic Designer at Bourns. He is looking forward to growing as a leader and strategist while continuing to support the team as a whole.

“I’m most excited to expand my own horizons and find new ways to be of service to the team,” Tom shared. “My biggest goal is actually just to be the manager my colleagues believe I can be.”

While stepping into a new leadership position can be daunting, Tom recently picked up the perfect hobby outside of work to promote relaxation and focus. “I started meditating about a year and half ago, and it has made a huge difference in my life.”

No doubt it will serve him well as he embarks on this exciting journey.
