Feb 7 event Part 3/3

Crate by crate. Hand to hand. 🍊
What started in the orchard (gleaned by our amazing volunteers) made its way onto the truck - saved from waste and headed where it mattered most.

EDIT: This event is happening March 15, THIS SUNDAY.

Windy weather has knocked a lot of avocados off the trees, so we’re organizing a community Avocado Rescue Day to gather the fallen fruit and make sure it doesn’t go to waste.

We’ll be visiting a local property to collect avocados that have fallen from the trees. All fruit gathered will be donated to local food pantries, helping get fresh food to people in our community.
You’re also welcome to take a few avocados home for yourself!

What to know:

🥑 Help collect fallen avocados from the orchard
🛍 Plastic bags will be provided for collecting fruit
🤝 Most of the harvest will go to local food pantries
⚠️ IMPORTANT: No bathrooms are available on-site so please plan ahead

This event is for all ages.
We will be picking fruit directly from trees, filling up crates, and then dropping off the crates at the pick up location. At the end of the event, our partner local food pantries will arrive to pick up everything that’s been collected. And! Definitely make sure to take home some fresh oranges for yourself!! 🍊

On this day, we collected 112 boxes of oranges - which is about 4,480 lbs! MASSIVE Thank you to all our volunteers for putting in the effort 🙏 🍊

𝐉𝐎𝐈𝐍 𝐔𝐒 for our final fruit picking event of the year! We’ll be picking fruit at the beautiful 𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬, 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐚 —and lending a hand with building berms for their fruit trees.

This event is part of 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐚𝐲! All volunteers will receive a complimentary food and drink ticket to enjoy at the Earth Day celebration @ 𝐒𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤.
