The news out of Tumbler Ridge is devastating.
When something like this happens, it shakes a community to its core. People are grieving. People are afraid. People are searching for answers.
My thoughts are with everyone impacted. Please reach out to those you know in the community. They will need support in the days and weeks ahead.
I'm so happy to be part of a project that is going to generate funds for The Trevor Project. On December 2 ( ), a portion of the sale of Yvie Oddly's biography, All About Yvie: Into the Oddity (that I happen to be the co-author of) will be donated to The Trevor Project and will help save LGBTQ+ youth's lives every day! Don't forget to get your copy.

HIV is still a serious health issue, and we cannot afford to treat it like itās a thing of the past. People living with HIV deserve equal access to life-saving medication, healthcare, and insurance coverage, just like anyone else. Unfortunately, stigma and systemic barriers continue to prevent many from receiving the care they need.
In the fight against HIV, itās not just about treatmentāitās about ensuring that everyone has access to prevention methods and that those living with the virus are not treated as if they are less worthy of care. We need to break the harmful stigmas around HIV, educate people on the realities of living with it, and push for policies that make healthcare more accessible and affordable for all.
Currently, many face challenges when it comes to getting the medications and treatments they need, and this has a direct impact on their health outcomes. Everyone deserves the right to live without fear of discrimination or the emotional and physical burden of navigating an unjust healthcare system.
We canāt wait for the world to change on its ownāwe have to push for it. Access to HIV medication, treatment, and prevention methods should be a universal right. Together, letās stand up against stigma, support those living with HIV, and make sure that care is available to all, regardless of background or status.
Letās keep fighting to create a future where HIV is no longer a source of shame, but a community where everyone has the support they need to live their healthiest life.

š December is Human Rights Month! Letās be clear: human rights should be a 365-day affair, but Iāll take the extra attention for the month. š Letās spend this month doing what we do bestāfighting for the rights of EVERYONE.

Tomorrow is International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Itās a day to acknowledge the lived experiences of individuals with disabilities and reflect on how we can better support themānot just today, but every day.
Disability is not something to be fixed, and itās not about charityāitās about equity. Itās about understanding that everyone has different experiences, and those differences should be respected, valued, and supported.
Rather than focusing on what people with disabilities canāt do, letās think about what they can do when they have the right support. Today is a reminder that everyone deserves equal opportunities, respect, and dignity, regardless of their physical abilities.
This isnāt just a day to be mindful of accessibilityāitās a chance to reaffirm our commitment to inclusion.

š¦ Thanksgiving Is Here! š¦
Thanksgiving is all about food, family, and those awkward debates over who gets to carve the turkey. And letās not forget the real meaning of Thanksgivingāstuffing yourself with pie while someone asks if ChatGPT can cook the turkey next year. Spoiler: It canāt, but it would nail the recipe! š„§
Pass the gravy, pass the love, and remember: life is better when everyone has a seat at the table. Happy Thanksgiving, friends! šāØ

As an IDEA SME, I often get asked, āMichael, what is gender-affirming language?ā Well, let me break it down:
Gender-affirming language means using words, names, and pronouns that respect and reflect someoneās true gender identity. Itās not just politeāitās essential for creating inclusive spaces where everyone feels valued and seen.
ā
Using someoneās chosen name and pronouns
ā
Swapping gendered terms like āladies and gentlemenā for āeveryoneā
ā
Avoiding assumptions about someoneās gender based on appearance
Itās not about being perfectāitās about making an effort. Words have power, and gender-affirming language is a small but meaningful way to show respect and support for Trans and gender diverse individuals.
Letās use language that lifts people up, not boxes them in! š
