Sunday Records
Nothing but records, only on Sunday. Old-school record store in Downtown Riverhead, NY. Discover new, older & hard to find releases.
A good old-fashioned record store like you used to walk into back in the ’70s and early ’80s. Featuring a combination of new and used albums; honoring the music from radios stations including: WLIR, WEHM & WBAB. A place that reminds us what it is like to go into a store, hold a record in your hands, and have a connection to the music. You walk in with an idea of what you are looking for and walk out with music that stretches your imagination.

Sunday Records field trip! Tonight, my wife and I saw Grammy-winning blues legend Robert Cray at Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center. This was our third time seeing him over the last 20-something years, and somehow he keeps getting better. He was in peak form tonight. And that sets the bar high for tomorrow night, when Devon Allman brings his Blues Summit to The Suffolk. What a weekend for blues fans!

Happy Sunday! I am adding stacks of records to the crates this morning - many original pressings of classic albums - stuff that people always ask for (Beatles, Clapton, Blondie) and stuff that almost nobody would think to ask for (Norman Nardini, Wild Belles). Come in and lose yourself in the crates for a while, then walk over to the brand-new music-based art exhibit at East End Arts which is just around the block. Sunday Records is open today from 11 to 5. 125 Roanoke Avenue Downtown Riverhead

One day, all the way back in the summer of 1985, my friends and I piled into an old Dodge Dart and headed out to the Meadowlands to see one of our favorite bands - Triumph. As we emerged from the Lincoln Tunnel, the driver announced that the brakes had failed, and we were now accelerating downhill towards the Jersey Turnpike with no brakes. For a moment, we all stared at the traffic in front us and contemplated imminent death. Then, with some calm thinking, he guided the car along the guardrail and brought it to a stop. But, we did not make it to the show. The following year, I went off to college, and shortly after that, the band broke up, and we never got to see them…. until last night when Triumph returned and played Jones Beach. We had waited 41 years to see that show. Yes, we are all a bit older, but it was so great for us to finally see Triumph in concert. Triumph’s “Magic Power” is still alive, and it is part of the deep well of music that inspired me to open Sunday Records. See you in the shop tomorrow.

Happy Sunday! I added stacks of records to the crates this week - including brand new music by All Them Witches (a psychedelic-doom influenced band from Nashville) and Paul McCartney (you already know who he is!) For balance, I added a stack of esoteric EDM (Electronic Dance Music) along with a healthy amount of Slayer. And, I intend to open a copy of the brand new Black Keys record - Peaches - because I just need to hear it. So, join me this afternoon at Sunday Records - it will be rocking! open today from 11 to 5. 125 Roanoke Avenue Downtown Riverhead
