As we wrap up the end of the 2024-2025 school year, we would like to say thank you to our administration, staff, and our students. It is not an easy task to take that first step back after months and often times, years of being away from a traditional classroom. That first step is a statement, a choice, and a commitment to a better life for not only themselves, but for their family. Our students overcome adversity, tragedies, and difficulties on a daily basis, but when they receive that diploma, when they accomplish that goal, all the struggles become well worth it. We are so thankful for our students. They continue to inspire all of us at NEMCC AE.

The NEMCC AE team will be using the month of July to learn, prepare, and improve for the upcoming year. In saying that, all classrooms will be closed through the month of July. Classes will resume on August 4th.

Michael Anglin didn’t know that his first step would lead to a completely new perspective on himself.

Michael had earned his HiSET diploma and was ready to move forward, but like so many young adults, he wasn’t quite sure how. “I was looking for a way to get my career started,” Michael says. “That’s when I was directed to Adult Ed at Northeast.”

He remembers the first time he met Dr. Shawn Davis, an Adult Ed instructor. “He didn’t just hand me information. He believed in me,” Michael says. “From day one, he made me feel like I could actually accomplish something.”

That encouragement didn’t stop with one person. “Everyone I met through the program made me feel that way. Like I mattered. Like I was capable of more than I thought,” he says.

With that steady support, Michael began to believe in himself. He gained not only academic skills but a new sense of confidence and direction.

“Now, I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished,” he says. “And more than that, I believe in myself. This program gave me the jumpstart I needed, not just for work, but for life.”

Today, Michael is building a meaningful career and using his story to inspire others. His message to anyone thinking about taking that first step?

“You’ve got this. The staff is so helpful and supportive. They’ll be with you every step of the way. This program doesn’t just help you reach your goals. It helps you believe you can have them.”
