On Friday the RACC Fire Rescue class went to the Wi******er Fire Training Center to finish our live fire skills for Firefighter 1. It was a awesome day that culminated their entire year. These students did an amazing job. They worked hard and learned that the hard work doesn't stop when the fire is out. Lots of fire, heat, and smoke in some great training evolutions. Shout out to Wi******er Fire Department, Portland Fire Department, Lynn Fire Department and Union City Fire Department for making this all happen. I also would like to thank two of my RACC assistant instructors Zack Robbins and Jeremy McCarthy who came down and assisted. Two others who played an important role in the day, my wife, Karla, who prepared lunch for all of us and my good friend, Ben Simmons (RACC EMT Instructor), who spent the day helping us out.

Another milestone was reached for the RACC Fire Rescue/EMS program at the SkillsUSA Indiana State Conference this year. On Saturday as Charlotte Stofferahn swore in the new state officers, she ended her reign as the President of SkillsUSA Indiana. She spent the last year in leadership trainings and advocating for career education at our Indiana State Capitol. She also traveled to Washington DC, earned her Statesmen Award and spoke with legislators on Capitol Hill. Congratulations to Charlotte! We are proud of her hard work and service!

This weekend RACC participated in the SkillsUSA Indiana State Conference. On Friday evening our Firefighting students had to qualify for the Finals on Saturday. All four, Dawson Sherwood, Ryan Boomershine, Peyton Walton, and Lillian Morris qualified for the finals.
Saturday was a great day for all. In the firefighting competition Dawson received the silver medal, and Ryan received the bronze.
In the EMT competition the team of Charlotte Stofferahn and Katie Mathena won the gold medal.
In Achitectural Drafting Johnie Parker also won gold.
Our gold medal winners will be going to Atlanta in June to compete in the national competition.
Congrats to all of our students.
