Back-to-school shopping sneaks up as one big bill — but it's really a dozen smaller ones: supplies, clothes, a backpack, maybe a laptop, plus the fees and lunch money that don't show up until the first week.

A few ways to keep it from spiraling: shop your own house first (you probably have more leftover supplies than you think), set a per-kid budget instead of one big number, time bigger buys around your state's sales-tax holiday, and check thrift stores and uniform swaps for clothes they'll outgrow in a year. And don't forget to plan for the costs that show up later — lunch money, activity fees, and fundraisers.

Click through for the full guide, and share it with a parent staring down the school-supply list. What's your best back-to-school money-saver?

Back-to-school season has a sneaky way of showing up as one big bill — even though it's really a dozen smaller ones. 🎒
Supplies, clothes, shoes, a new backpack, maybe a laptop or phone, and lunch money… half of it doesn't hit until that first week is already here. Most of it is essential, which is exactly why a little planning goes a long way this time of year.

Sometimes the heaviest part of debt isn't the balance — it's the quiet thoughts that come with it.

If you've thought any of these, you're in good company. Debt is a circumstance, not a character verdict. Avoidance only grows the balance and the worry with it.

Swipe through for the gentle truth behind each thought. If one lands, tell us which in the comments and when you're ready to talk it through with a real person, our guides are here.

No judgment, no pressure.

Helping people is its own reward, but the people who do it — day in, day out, for clients at their most stressed — deserve to be celebrated too.

Every quarter, we stop to recognize the ones who go above and beyond. This time, two honors:

🏆 The Hustler Award: For the top performer in each department.
🎓 Manager Certificates: Earned by managers who completed a leadership course led by our COO, Ann Banks, giving them new tools to lead their teams even better.

To everyone who earned one, we thank you for the heart you bring to this work. Our clients feel it, and so do we.

"The hard part isn't getting up the mountain, it's staying on top." - Corey Butcher

Earlier this week we held our quarterly kickoff, led by our CEO Corey Butcher and COO Ann Banks. We recognized team members for their hard work helping clients find their way to financial independence and become the heroes of their own stories. We also launched our new quality of excellence, The B.L.U.E. Standard.

Believe - Believe in what we do and how we do it. We change lives one call, one negotiation, one client at a time. Commit to the standard — no exceptions.

Listen - Listen with intent and empathy. Step into the other person's shoes — client or coworker — understand their unique goals and challenges and let that understanding show up in what you do next, not just what you say.

Unite - Unite as one team. Move forward together, adhere to the process, and think beyond your own desk — because the standard only holds when we all hold it.

Excel - Excel today, then find a way to do it better tomorrow. We set the standard on real financial results and raise it every day.
