I made a compass today inspired by Chinese teapot artist tools. I'm excited to try it out.

These pieces are inspired by the careful design found inside LDS temples. Each building was constructed or renovated within the last 50 years, and the influence of modern architecture is apparent in the designs.

Shortly after graduate school, I had the opportunity to work with . One of the first custom homes they let me see was one that was heavily inspired by Frank Loyd Wright. It was subtle, well designed, with impeccable craftsmanship. I felt a personal connection with the ideals that it upheld. It was from that experience that I began to look closely at Frank's work in architecture. These pieces feature Frank's designs from stained glass and decorative concrete.

Found this piece in the closet that I neglected to finish. The red is the gold overglaze prior to firing. At the time, I was looking at Mondrian and Klimt. It is exciting to see it done.

Ok, so funny thing.... I am partially color blind. My wife was teasing me because she said there was a red spot on one of these shots I took. Honestly, I can't tell the difference. Which image has the red spot, and is it obvious?

The pattern for this piece comes from Frank Loyd Wright's concrete light screen. I love how the volume of the piece stretches out the pattern. It's like the vase took a deep breath.

A significant inspiration for my work are designs by Frank Loyd Wright. While pieces are fresh on the wheel I stretch them from the inside and create panels for decoration. I love the architectural element of the form complimented by the linear pattern. Fun stuff!

This last week, I had an element go out, so my kiln stopped at 2000°. When I refired the work, the platters developed a crack. The lesson continues. 0/5 on platters. Grrrrrrr 🤬.

I had to learn a hard lesson today. Don't refire platters... the glaze wasn't fully matured the initial firing, so I decided to risk it. All three platters have a giant crack running through them. 😭 I'll remake them.
