I need an in person training course on posing hollands. I try to pose them the way the judges do on the table, and they don’t do it… usually I can get them to somewhat pose this way….But…. Instead we were into cosplaying meerkats 🤣 the last bunny is 12 weeks old and hopefully just starting her uglies…. Otherwise…. 🫣 yeesh…. 🥴
Do bunnies make good pets for kids? 🥴🫠 it quite literally depends on the child, AND on the bunny….but…. Emphasis on the child…. 💁🏻♀️
As a mom to 3..plus neighbors, nieces/nephews, piano students… I deal with kids a lot so I think it’s pretty safe for me to say…. No. Not every child should have a pet bunny.
“Bunnies are prey animals and get scared easily” is the biggest excuse you will hear from most animal enthusiasts. In my experience, that is indeed correct however I see more aggression problems in the bunnies that were developed because of the child they were given to. Hear me out….
Bunnies know exactly what to do to make kids drop them or stay away and it involves their teeth. Bunnies are smart!!! If your child is not taught AND disciplined to handle the bunny properly then your bunnies can possibly become fearfully aggressive. Sometimes this fear aggression cannot be resolved between your child and the bunny. When a bunny’s trust is broken it is reeeeaaaallllly broken and in some cases it is not reparable.
So, how to we combat this? For starters, find a breeder that has previously introduced the bunny to kids or is experienced with helping place pets not just show buns. (No offense to show or pet breeders!) this is so the breeder has an actual first hand experience watching the bunny react to new experiences.
Ask very direct questions about the bunnys personality and provide honest feedback about your child. A good breeder will be able to help match the right personality for your household. After that it will take a lot of teaching to help your child know how to properly handle their bunny.
A good breeder doesnt want these valuable animals being mishandled or irresponsibly bred. Me included 🙋🏻♀️ so you need to be prepared for that. Some pet breeders are hoping to make a quick sale and some show breeders will only sell to other showers. Everyone is entitled to operate how they see fit.
However… in general… Anyone who seems to be over promising a friendly cuddly bunny…. 😑😑 tell them to provide videos

Baby Rexes are in the new grow out pens!!
How is everyone keeping their grow outs colony style?
These guys are going to grow until butchering time… yes you read that right. The Rexes are food for an old dog allergic to literally everything else.. anyways 💁🏻♀️
I red necked a heat solution by burying totes semi underground so they can stay cool in the totes. I’m hoping the green tunnels hold up until I can get some bigger PVC pipe or something for their entrance tunnel instead. So far they are loving it! I have slabs of an old granite counter at the bottom of the totes to help give them a cool place to lay down at the hottest part of the day. It’s a massive trial and error work in progress but I’m sooooooo hopeful it works!

I truly never thought I would ever worry about my bunnies in the heat while living in South East Idaho. Yet here I am… 😧 we lost 2 bunnies over the 4th of July weekend and I was shocked.
Absolutely shocked.
I pulled the trigger and we have worked our butts off trying to get this shed done. It’s almost there! The bunnies are able to live in there and consistently stay under 80 degrees 🥳
A swamp cooler in the garage was not cutting it… I’m hoping the shed will also hold onto heat as well as it’s holding the cool air in so it will hopefully 🤞🏻🤞🏻 be a cheaper winter in heating costs!
That is… if we actually have a winter this next year!

This little Rex here is really good and helping me identify every weak spot in ever cage or pen I put him in 😑 it’s a good reminder that sometimes “help” doesn’t come across as actual “help” sometimes. All the holes should be plugged now 🤦🏻♀️
Anyone else have an escape artist bound and determined to test your very last ounce of patience?!?!?

This little guy is officially looking to hop along on his next adventure!
We have been working hard on our tri-colors which means we have a lot of related bun buns to grow out… unfortunately this boy looks exactly like his mom and his aunt so we cant justify the cage space 😣 why are there always so many perfect bucks?!?!
This boy is spunky and curious and bold. He’s doing a fabulous job using his litter box! He’s been held ALOT and does really well with both kids and adults handling him. Posing is not his favorite but in all honestly…. It’s not mine either… sooo 💁🏻♀️
He would be a great asset in your barn for improving overall type while trying to add color. So far his lines have a slightly longer front limb but are otherwise excellent contenders with their solid tort competition.
If you aren’t into showing then this guy also has the perfect personality for a great pet. I think he would thrive with a family!

Do you see it?!? 👀🐝. I was attempting a posed photo on this little boy and a stripey friend came to say hello!
This boy is A VA I L A B L E. He is an agouti tri-buck, he is 6 weeks old and will be ready to hop along in 2 weeks. This isn’t his best pose…. But it was so cute it still needed a place on the feed!
We cannot agree on names over here. Everyone is adamant on something different for each baby. So… internet, help us name these babies!
Neighbor drama turned into an accidental garden 😐😄 I threw down pretty flower seeds to hide the empty spot my chickens used to be in. I guess the chickens gave me more than just eggs!
July was a rough month! 😓 one of the bunnies that lived with the chickens passed away over the 4th of July weekend after I moved them to another area in the yard. Her hus-bun waffles is back with Katy and her chickens so he doesn’t feel lonely.
