Local-ish Retreat!!

An extended weekend in the early days of autumn with a group of women saying YES to slowing down, growing quiet, and restoring in connection.

I know, it’s not even summer yet but payment plans are so reasonable if you start now.

“.. interpretation is the preferred escape from immediacy.” - Bruce Tift

Very rarely are we simply experiencing reality in a direct way.

What we experience is filtered through our senses, emotions, thoughts, and feelings.

And what we perceive is heavily influenced by our preferences, our worldview, our past & our conditioning, and our environment.

And then we almost immediately make interpretations about what we are experiencing.

It happens so naturally that we get tricked into believing our stories over the truth of our immediate experience.

The practices of yoga help to cleanse the lens of perception & widen our scope.

We practice creating an atmosphere of openness, a non-judgmental awareness, & returning to the immediacy of what’s actually going on in the present.

We practice a greater awareness of our proclivity for inner commentary and kindness when we catch it.

We practice simply experiencing without interpretation, and in this modern world of over-thinking, ego-identification, assumptions, and widespread division, it’s freeing.

And in that state of freedom, we make more unencumbered, impactful, & authentic choices in how we engage & participate with what we experience.

this week Wednesday, Thursday, & Sunday 💚✨🙏

Saturday I got to be at Beloved Yoga ALL DAY. I taught 9am vinyasa, saw folks I hadn’t had the pleasure of hugging in YEARS, enjoyed tea & some quiet in the lounge, and cheered on my mentees in the YTT.

Being back in the Beloved fold feels good. I know I never left, but there was literal distance and other challenges to my capacity to show up.

The man that I fell in love with kept me close enough for a time and has now called me back to the area of my yoga-home.

Thank you for this wholehearted keepsake made from my wedding bouquet - it feels like a token honoring this current confluence of the wild circles & cycles of life & my 13 years at Beloved.

Gratitude to you & our sangha. 🙏✨

More to come…

November 7, we gather in Hamilton VA for Rooted in Rhythm: a day of learning living practices to journey through the wheel of the year. ⭕️

Mid-autumn is a rich time to take stock & make stock. There is a call to slow down & deepen, to prioritize what is essential to our well-being within the cycles of our Mother Earth. 🌎

The Wheel of the Year is organized by the eight sacred turning points of the seasons - the solstices, equinoxes, & cross-quarter days.

We will weave seasonal self-care, herbal magick, & spiritual hygiene together to form a tapestry of practices, recipes, & rituals that will keep you vibrant & rhythmically connected to the most fundamental experience of belonging & nourish your well-being all year long.

What to look forward to…
- Learn the spiritual themes, folklore, & energetic invitations of each solstice, equinox, & cross-quarter day
- Discover a variety of herbs that support the body during specific times of the year
- Somatic practices, breathwork, & meditation formulated for the current seasonal shift
- Craft your own herbal oil & tea for winter wellness
- Intention setting for the seasons & learn how to curate personal rituals that reflect nature’s cycles

A loving prepared, nourishing lunch will be provided. 💚

Sign up & I’ll share the link in my stories ✨

Yesterday I woke up to foxes playing in the backyard.

We did a yoga practice, homeschool, and wrapped up our morning with a bike ride along the canal.

We saw over 20 turtles - big ones and the cutest babies, a handful of goose parents training obedient and defiant teen geese, and we shared the trail with a gentle deer until she peacefully glided across the canal.

Not to mention, the herons and songbirds, an osprey, the orchestra of insects, and the hidden creatures that surely clocked us.

I’ve maintained a narrative that moving to Montgomery County means having the natural world less accessible.

The water is definitely dirtier, but life finds a way, and we are finding ours too.

Ch-ch-ch-changes…
