We are thrilled to provide an update on our August Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative—a book drive in support of Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) Northern Virginia. Thanks to everyone who generously donated gently used or new books, we collected a total of 32 books to donate! These books will be distributed to 32 children, providing them with free, high-quality reading material. Our SciLo Vets Employee Resource Group recently held a RED (Remember Everyone Deployed) shirt drive to bring awareness to the sacrifices of deployed service members, as well as raise funds for a worthy cause. For this endeavor, SciLo Vets chose The Corporal Chad Oligschlaeger Foundation for PTSD. Chad O, as the organization is known amongst its supporters, funds holistic therapy for Veterans and Service Members with PTSD using modalities such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), that empowers our nation’s heroes to find life after the trauma. SciLo Vets kicked off the RED drive in May during Military Appreciation Month and concluded in July. Pictured from left to right, Eric Oligschlaeger, Vice President of the foundation, Jackie Pena, Secretary and Event Coordinator, receiving a check for $750 from SciLo Vets chair, Denny Katona. These funds will go to provide 10 contact hours of treatment so that our heroes can “Come All The Way Home."
