Congratulations to those athletes that competed at the AAU North Carolina District Championships in Greensboro NC! Together they brought home 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals. Great job!

Congratulations to the 7 Ichiban Karate athletes that competed at the AAU VA Fall Invitational Karate tournament! Together they earned 6 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze. Way to go!

We hope everyone is having a great time off this August! Don't forget to keep up your skills so we can hit the mats hard when we reopen September 4. Also for those 9 and under, there is our TKFI cyber Kata Championship. We take side by side video and send it for scoring. The championship is divided by experience levels. Let us know if you are interested!

So it is official.. we are moving to 397 Herndon Pkwy Suite 120, Herndon VA 20171 (inside Evince Analytics)! We will miss Acacia Ln; it served us well over the past 8 years. We will start classes again September 4 in our Herndon location!

2018 AAU National Championships

We are super proud of all the athletes that participated in the 2018 AAU Karate National Championship! After all the hard work, everyone is getting some rest and relaxation, so enjoy a few photos from the competition and have a great Independence Day Holiday.

2018 AAU National Championships From June 28th through June 30th, 11 Ichibankarate athletes competed at the 2018 AAU Karate National Championships in Ft. Lauderdale FL. The competition was excellent and there were many very close matches. Together the team come home with 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 5 Bronze medals.

Day 3 and the end of AAU Karate National Championships. Today was a little bit of everything, from flag kata to ippon kumite to team kata to Olympic kumite. The athletes competed well with some of the best in the country. The team came away with bronze in ippon and bronze in team kata. It was a great experience for all. We look forward to next year!

Day 2 at the AAU Karate National Championship done! Excellent competition with some hard fought matches in kata and kumite. Congratulations to those that medaled. We came away with 1 Gold, 2 Silver, and 1 Bronze. And then in true Ichiban Karate style, we had a blast playing with each other at our team dinner!

Day 1 of the AAU Karate Nationals complete! We had athletes in the Women's Mandatory Sh*to kata, 10 year old intermediate and ...err... the "veteran " men's advanced divisions. Congratulations to Dwight Sensei for earning a silver in the "old man's" division! Tomorrow more weapons , kata and kumite!

And so it begins! Good skill to our peeps at the AAU Karate Nationals!

Congratulations to these two karate-ka! They earned their junior provisional black belts this past Saturday. We expect great things from them in the coming years as they continue their karate-do journey.

Very proud of these tough athletes! They all competed well at the WUKF World Karate Championships in Dundee Scotland. Special shout out to Chloe for bringing home the silver!
