Am I a bad dog mum?
My 10mo girl is in her first heat at the moment so I’ve been careful to walk her at certain times of the day, and never letting her off her lead.
I woke up extra early the other morning (around 6am) and thought id take her to the beach, as it would be quiet at that time and she’d get a splash in the sea and a run around.
I was walking her on her extendable lead and two intact male dogs run over to us, she runs between my legs and sits down, and the dogs are running around trying to sniff her, I call out to their owners can they please recall their dogs as she’s in season, and I get a load of abuse about how I shouldn’t have her at the beach if she’s in heat, how I’m an Irresponsible owner.
This is my first dog and I obviously want to do the best by her, did I do something wrong by taking her to the beach?
ETA: I never asked for advice regarding spaying, I will spay her between 18-24 months following the advice from our vet, breeder and my own research based on her breed.
