We moved!

We have just relocated the bees from Renton to Seattle last night. They seem to be happy. We will harvest a fresh batch of honey in the next few days.

The bees are back! Our hive didn’t survive the cold winter. So we bought a new hive. Hopefully this new kind of bees will be more cold-resistant. Still lots of work ahead for the bees. But glad that they are ready to take advantage of the Spring flowers.

The hive is wintering. Hopefully the queen and the hive will survive before the Spring.

We harvested some honey from the flow hive yesterday. It is amazing how the same hive has different type of honey. The lighter one must be from the previous batch while the darker one is more recent.

We can deliver each 1lbs jar for $20 to those who live near zip code 98058. Please reply if you want one. We have about 10 jars.

Flow Hive

To extract honey, you would normally have to spin the frame or squeeze the honey out of the comb. This process is very effort consuming!

Beside the traditional comb, we also use something called the Flow hive. It contains plastic comb that the bees can almost immediately deposit honey into. No need to build the comb. Harvesting is such a breeze too. Just turn the key to crack the comb open and honey will run out like water.

The result: crystal clear honey & lots of efforts saved.
