It’s easy to place our confidence in things that seem strong and secure — talent, performance, reputation or success. But Psalm 20 reminds us that those things will eventually fail us.

As athletes and coaches, our identity and confidence cannot rest in stats, recognition or ability. Those things can change in a moment. True security is found in the character and faithfulness of God.

David chose to trust God instead of following the crowd, and we are called to do the same. When everything else feels uncertain, the name of the Lord remains firm and faithful.

Ronaldo is the first player to score in 6 World Cups, and he has said, “I go to Church every week to thank God for what I have. Everything I have was given to me by Him."

How and when we express our faith is important.
