✨Three of our interns will be moving on to their next life adventure, and we will miss them greatly. Each of their departures was marked with themed decor, tasty treats and celebrations. We make it a point to acknowledge our interns when they are hired, when they age out, or transition to college life, recognizing the unique path each one takes. Congratulations to our departing interns on this new chapter, and we look forward to hearing about their future achievements. ✨
❤️🎶Special shoutout to Sunny 106.9 FM Reno for making this day extra special for one of our interns, who is their most loyal listener! 🎶❤️

It’s our favorite part of the week too! 😉🍕 Smiling with Hope Pizza-Good Neighbors serving NY Style Pizza
🥾🌲Ending our year in nature is a tradition we have grown to love. It allows us time to reflect, quiet the noise and just enjoy each other’s company. 🐿️🪵

A huge thank you to Arts for All Nevada for partnering with Transition Academy to make Colors of Work possible. This exhibition has provided our interns with an incredible opportunity to share their stories, talents, and experiences through art. The confidence, pride, and joy our interns displayed while presenting their work and discussing their creative process was truly inspiring. We are especially grateful for the welcoming space and support that Arts for All provides to help ensure every artist has a voice.
A special thank you to Anne Hunter for her dedication, creativity, and belief in our interns. Through her guidance, encouragement, and artistic expertise, our students were able to explore self-expression in meaningful ways and create beautiful works that reflect their experiences, goals, and identities. Partnerships like these help us carry out our mission of empowering young adults with disabilities to build independence, confidence, and meaningful futures.
Colors of Work will be on display at the McKinley Arts Center through July 9, Monday–Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Stop by and check out this inspiring exhibit showcasing the creativity, talents, and stories of Transition Academy intern artists.

At Transition Academy (operating through Washoe County School District), interns participate in supported, hands-on learning experiences across a variety of industries, visiting local businesses and job sites as they build practical skills and confidence.

Welcome June with 'Colors of Work' as it opens on Monday, June 1st.
Let's all celebrate the student-intern artists from the Transition Academy , as they hold their Colors of Work exhibition, featuring artworks that show their unique perspective on livelihood: what motivates them, what challenges them, and what brings them pride.
The artists displayed in this exhibition are all young adults with intellectual and cognitive disabilities who are actively preparing their next steps through vocational training, career exploration, and workplace readiness.
At Transition Academy, which operates through the Washoe County School District, interns participate in supported, hands-on learning experiences across a variety of industries, visiting local businesses and job sites as they build practical skills and confidence.
Each day, the interns develop independence and self-advocacy through their training and engagement with their peers.
Under the guidance of our teaching artist, Anne Hunter, these interns have created a vibrant collection of mixed media works.
Combining painting, photography, and other materials, their pieces reflect their personal experiences of work - what it feels like to learn, to contribute, and build a meaningful future.
Colors of Work is both a celebration of creativity and a powerful expression of identity, purpose, and independence.
We look forward to seeing you all as you join in celebrating the Colors of Work by the student-intern artists from the Transition Academy.
Colors of Work will run from June 1 to July 9, Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm at the McKinley Arts Center.
