TRAINING TUESDAY - Internet Safety
June is National Internet Safety Month, an annual awareness campaign dedicated to educating youth, parents, and communities about online risks while promoting responsible digital citizenship.
Scouting America is proud to support this important effort through its partnership with Know2Protect, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's national public awareness campaign to prevent and combat online child exploitation and abuse. Through this partnership, Scouts and their families gain access to valuable online safety education, practical prevention strategies, and resources for reporting suspected abuse.
Helping young people protect their privacy online can start with a few simple conversations. During National Internet Safety Month, parents and trusted adults can help kids and teens build healthy by encouraging three key actions:
📴 Turn off location sharing services.
🔐 Set social media and gaming accounts to private.
👥 Remove strangers from friends lists.
Small changes can make a big difference in protecting personal information and giving young people more control over who can see their content and contact them online. Check out the Top 10 Tips2Protect for Parents and Trusted Adults:

"Scouts in the Wild"
We are excited to highlight the many ways members of the Nevada Area Council stay active beyond Scouting. This series demonstrates how the program fits into a well-rounded lifestyle and shows that Scouts are engaged members of the broader community.
This week, we feature James A. from Troop 7322, who has been practicing karate with Reno United Tang Soo Do for seven years. James recently earned his black belt at the World Tang Soo Do Region One Tournament. To achieve this rank, he passed a rigorous four-hour physical test and a written exam, wrote an essay, and maintained at least 90% attendance at local and regional clinics. Congratulations on this impressive achievement, James!
If you see any "Scouts in the Wild" and would like to have them featured, please send photos and details to [email protected] for consideration.
