I was straight-edge sober for several years before I reintroduced psychedelic-assisted therapy back into my life.
Despite maintaining a lifestyle of abstinence and long-term recovery, working with medicine in a therapeutic context has deepened my recovery journey in ways I did not anticipate.
Sobriety gave me stability, integrity, and a more solid foundation on which to continue building my life, whereas medicine, ceremony, and ongoing integration work has given me so much more: increased depth, sustenance, love and interconnectedness, purpose, the ability to bless and release…
IMO, abstinence is was not the end-all-be-all of recovery. For me, it was deeply necessary for a time (and to be clear, I still abstain from alcohol, cannabis, street drugs, and prescriptions - even that which was not my DOC), and I owe so much of my life to those early years of my recovery journey and those promises I made to myself.
If you’re in recovery - from ANYTHING -
and you are curious about additional ways of walking the path, I would love to hear from you and continue the conversation.
Here’s to 9 years of freedom 🤍🪽

And so it is! My dear sister, & colleague for the last 5 years, Dr. Shannon Williams, .0703 & I are collaborating this winter to bring to the world a Birth Workers Retreat in Pescadaro, MX.
Birth Workers hold a special place in our heart, & it is our great honor & pleasure to create & facilitate this incredibly profound retreat experience, & we look forward to being of service in this transformative space of community & deep connection.
A little bit about this side of my career:
My approach to psychotherapy has always been a marriage of science & spirituality. My career in the counseling field began 17 years ago, with a passion for supporting women as they navigate the human experience.
Shortly after obtaining my MA in Counseling Psych, I pursued doula certification through DONA International, and served birthing women, with an emphasis on single mothers, in rural MN. During this time, I also obtained my 500 hour YTT certification, & taught prenatal and postpartum yoga, & yoga for kids, in addition to my other classes. As my training in the metaphysical and shamanic realms has evolved, I have also sought certifications in Holy Fire and Karuna Reiki, & studied under the mentorship of a vast array of practitioners.
Today, my psychotherapy practice weaves these worlds together most brilliantly as a Certified Psychedelic Assisted Therapist. While I have been working with medicine clinically for 3 years, I have been both a student and a facilitator since 2015, working most intimately with M**A, ayahuasca, ketamine, and psilocybin. It is my belief that these medicines hold profound feminine energy, with incredible capacity to heal with and through our relationship with the Divine Feminine and Earth Mother.

in the world of psychedelics, we often hear about “integration” or - the ongoing process of meaning-making, embodiment, and applying insights, emotions, and experiences that arise during a journey. integration also makes the most of neuroplasticity, changes in neurochemistry, and the afterglow of medicine.
ultimately, we engage in the *process* of integration to create lasting, positive changes in one’s daily life and to extract as much as we can from this work.
we also practice integration to put ourselves back together again, so to speak. integration is what can make an otherwise “bad” situation good, and a good situation incredible.
as a facilitator, therapist, or guide, it’s also imperative to note that offering integration support, or at the very least, connecting clients to proper resources, is a part of staying in right relationship with medicine. all too often, we see people opened up by medicine, then sent home raw, under-resourced and under-supported. in my opinion, this is preventable, and it is our responsibility to ensure continuity of care 🙏
so, if you’re doing medicine, do your integration 😘 whether you’re a newb, or a seasoned traveler - we all need this reminder and we all need this process, whatever that may look like for you.
if this is an area you’d like support in, please reach out 🫶

IMHO, no.
when people think of psychedelic medicine, they tend to think one of two things: healing or doing “drugs”.
and yes - these medicines can absolutely support deep healing, & they can be used recreationally. however, any seasoned traveler will also tell you that these medicines offer us so much more than just these two ends of the spectrum.
as a certified PAT, I’ve witnessed how these medicines can support in other incredibly profound ways:
neuroplasticity: psychedelics can help the brain rewire itself, creating new, more adaptive patterns of thought and behavior.
performance optimization: many high performers intentionally use journeys and microdosing to sharpen focus, regulate emotions, & enhance performance in a variety of settings.
creativity: these medicines help us access creative flow states & original insights that allow us to connect to a deeper intelligence
that seem harder to access in ordinary states of consciousness.
social connection: some medicines are considered empathogens, & can increase pro-social behavior & increased emotional states such as empathy and compassion, forgiveness, unity consciousness, & increased connection to others.
treatment of TBI and other neurological disorders: emerging research shows potential for certain medicines to reduce inflammation, stimulate neurogenesis, & improve cognition
clarity & visioning: many people come to this work not because they are in crisis, but because hope to clarify their purpose, realign with their values, or navigate life differently.
spirituality: these medicines can open us up to a deeper connection with the what feels sacred or divine & attune more acutely to their own inner guidance.
moral of the story: this path is unique to the journeyer. & under the right conditions (including proper intention, preparation, integration, and safety) they can be powerful tools for not only healing, but growth, expansion, & transformation, & enjoyment.
if you’re curious about what PAT could look like for you, reach out. it’s my greatest honor to help bridge the gap between science, spirit, & self-discovery.
