A Fire Weather Watch is in effect Friday through Saturday for much of Western Nevada, including the Reno-Carson City-Minden area. Avoid activities that cause a spark, including dragging trailer chains and driving motorized vehicles over dry vegetation.

All of us from the National Weather Service in Reno wish all the fathers out there a Happy Father's Day! It will be a good one with seasonal temperatures, sunny skies, and light winds.

Showers and tstorms develop again this afternoon mainly in far NW Nevada and NE California. Isolated storms will lead to dry lightning, brief periods of heavy rain, gusty outflow winds and small hail. Along and south of I-80, dry conditions, and less than 10% chance for storms.

Today officially marks the first 100°F day for Reno this year! The earliest 100°F day on record dates back to June 7th, 2013.

It's gonna be another warm one tomorrow, with a forecasted high of 99°F.
