Drink Coffee Do Stuff has officially opened its second Reno location inside the former Junkee building on South Virginia Street. The nearly 100-year-old property originally served as a Coca-Cola bottling plant and is now being transformed into a new hub for food, drinks, and wellness businesses in Midtown.

Downtown Reno’s empty storefronts could soon look very different 👀

The city just approved a new pilot program designed to bring small businesses into vacant downtown spaces by leasing storefronts, helping pay for renovations, and subletting them at a lower cost.

City leaders say high rents, oversized spaces, and expensive tenant improvements have made it tough for new businesses to move in—especially along Virginia Street.

Reno has already set aside funding to launch the effort, and the first activated storefront could happen as soon as fall 2026.

Big changes are taking off at Reno-Tahoe International ✈️ Reno’s airport just received its largest federal grant yet. $20 million to help fund brand-new A and B concourses as part of the MoreRNO expansion project.

The upgrades will replace all gates, expand waiting areas, and bring new amenities for travelers in the years ahead.

A new Smith’s Marketplace in Spanish Springs could be getting closer 👀

A building permit application was just filed for a full-service Smith’s Marketplace at Kiley Ranch Marketplace off Pyramid Highway in Sparks. Plans show a 122,000-square-foot store with a pharmacy and drive-thru, plus another proposed retail center nearby.

The project follows Smith’s $25.6 million land purchase at the site last year — and while there’s still no official opening date, this is a major step forward.

Big win for grocery options in Spanish Springs… but some locals are already asking what this could mean for traffic on Pyramid.
