I rescued this young lady today from our pool. Many people do not know this but honey bees will drown very easily if they donβt have something to stand on when they are drinking. We use waterers that are specifically designed for them but just placing a few stones in open water sources works just fine ππππ

Hot days like we have in northern Nevada will cause the girls to congregate outside to try to cool off. Honey bees are very good at regulating their body temperature but itβs always a good idea to remove the lid for a bit to give some extra ventilation πππ

We gave the girls a 1:1 sugar water feeder today.
What this photo tells me is that we have an abundance of worker bees that are doing what anyone would, and that is to take what is right in front of them.
Now that we know we have strong numbers and determined workers, weβll take the feeders away and let them collect the local nectar that makes the liquid gold π―π―ππ

The ladies are really working hard building frames for the queen to keep laying. She will lay around 2000 eggs per day so they have a lot of work to do! ππ―

4 day inspection went great!! The Queens have been released from their cages and are busy laying eggs. The workers even left some artwork on one of the cages! ππ―
