Delaware Naturally is a citizen-focused effort of the Delaware Native Species Commission (DNSC) to empower Delawareans to explore, learn about, and preserve our unique flora, fauna, and habitats, and become active stewards of the place we call home
Not every bug in your yard is a pest. Many insects, birds, frogs, bats, and other wildlife help keep nature in balance by pollinating plants and controlling unwanted pests. That's why smart pest control focuses on solving real problems instead of eliminating everything.
Simple actions like removing standing water, securing trash, protecting gardens, and managing invasive plants can help create a healthier yard while supporting the wildlife that benefits our environment.
Watch our latest video to learn why a healthier landscape starts with knowing which creatures are helping. 🌿
🌿 Helping nature doesn't always mean doing more, it can mean doing less.
Leaving some leaves behind, letting parts of your yard grow naturally, reducing outdoor lighting, and using fewer chemicals can all create valuable habitat for wildlife.
Small changes at home can provide food, shelter, and protection for pollinators, birds, frogs, fireflies, and other species that help our ecosystems thrive.
Watch our latest video to learn a few simple ways you can support nature right in your own backyard. 🦋🐝

🚨 DELAWARE DROUGHT WATCH DECLARED 🚨
Governor Matt Meyer has officially issued a statewide Drought Watch. Over the last 8–10 months, a severe lack of rainfall has left all three counties with deep precipitation deficits—with Kent and Sussex hit hardest. 🏜️
Right now, the state is asking for voluntary water conservation to help protect our streams, groundwater, and local ecosystems before the summer heat intensifies.
🌿 How you can help:
Limit lawn watering: Established grass goes dormant naturally to survive dry spells, it's okay if it turns a little brown!
Use rain barrels: Water turf and shrubs with non-potable (non-drinking) water whenever possible.
Save indoors: Fix leaky faucets and run full loads of dishes and laundry.
Let's work together to protect our state 💙🌱
