The Federal Trade Commission is exploring new nationwide rules that could regulate rental housing fees. The proposal may require landlords and property managers to disclose the full monthly cost of rent upfront and could eliminate or restrict many common industry fees. This is still in the early stages, but it could significantly impact how housing providers structure rent and recover operating costs.

Two major landlord-tenant bills have officially passed the Nebraska Legislature and are now awaiting the Governor’s signature:

✅ LB 266 – Blocks local governments from enacting rent control measures.
✅ LB 185 – Modernizes how legal notices can be served, including allowing electronic service between landlords and tenants.

📝 Both bills were introduced by State Senator Rob Dover.

Hi everyone... Based on a few conversations I've had with lobbyists and 2 state senators... we are anticipating NUMEROUS landlord-tenant bills before the Nebraska Legislature this year!
I have decided that this year I wanted to take a better approach to keeping everyone who is the real estate community informed.
