Dropping this gorgeous πŸ’£πŸš to wet the whistle of everyone's woodly desires! πŸ˜…πŸ˜‹

This 11.5" long, double edge buck knife rests on a base of rip cut Hampton Butte petrified wood, with one contour polished edge, a semi polished bottom, and the top left natural.

The knife itself is made of a wide variety of material from across the world.

Blade- Browns ranch picture wood with high manganese content. (Saddle MTN area)

Intarsia guard- Australian Osmunda fern, and LA petrified palm.

Handle- a semi sentimental section of the first piece of petrified wood I ever collected. It's been sitting on a shelf and traveling with me for 25+ years now, and I finally sliced into it for this project. I am no expert and am definitely still learning the finer details of wood types, but I do believe the handle material to be oak, and it's from somewhere in Oregon. I'll have better photos and macros at some point soon to get help discerning if I'm correct or not.

Intarsia pommel- Stinking water pass golden oak with a gembone core.

I know I say it a lot, but this is one of my favorite pieces to date, and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did creating it!

Thanks for looking πŸ€—πŸ™

A little peek at the current work in progress! More work to do on the blade, but this is going to be the most eye catching piece I've made to date! 😍

Man how time flies with so many projects going on! Here's a few shots of my recent workings:) forgive me for not being as active as I should be here, with a baby on the way, lots to do around the property, and cramming time for Lapidary work, I haven't had the down time to manage my page properly. Hope you all have a great new year! Here's to 2025!πŸ»πŸ“£

My first ever attempt at cabbed arrowheads! I used some funkite that was sent to me by a friend to create a few arrowheads for his work! Funkite is a UV reactive paint from the 60's-70's . The company who used it painted landscape stones, props for various trades shows, and supposedly even props for the Grateful dead.
