This is Jim Thorpe, the first Native American to win an Olympic gold medal for his country. Looking closely at this photo, you can see he wear different socks and shoes. Not because of his fashion sense. This photo was taken in 1912, when Jim, a Native American from Oklahoma, represented the United States in athletics at the Olympics that summer.
On the morning of the match, his shoes were stolen. Luckily, Jim found two different shoes in a trash can. Those are the two shoes he is wearing in the photo. But one of those shoes was a little too big, so he had to put on a few more socks.
Wearing these clunky shoes, Jim won two gold medals that day. The person who stole the shoes must have not expected that instead of causing him to fail, they would bring him glory. This is a reminder to all of us that we can overcome any difficulty in life if we try.

Have you been wondering about my next novel, The Original Human beings? I started in 2016 and wrote volume one of the five part series in about one month. I had the book edited by a Spanish Latina and professor of Latin American Literature. After two years that structural editor quit the project. After that a proof reader from Georgia who had edited New York Times Best sellers. In 2023 sent the book to 12 of the top Literary agents in the world. I received very nice comments but no contract. So I sent it out to 28 more literary agents and none of them were
Felt like it clicked with them and again all of them were complimentary. But nothing as far as a contract. So I decided to rewrite it again after hiring a Hispanic novelist to check my Spanish and a leader of the Nez Perceto help me on those respective languages. After reviews from several literary professors from Oxford Yale and Princeton. I began a new rewrite under coaching from a a professor in Georgia working with me. We are halfway threw this rewrite and hoping to have a solid query letter and manuscript to enjoy with family.so its coming and will be submitted shortly. Pray for the project this book is really getting good.

The Original Human Beings is the New Novel that I have been working on the last four years. All in my personal time after my job as lead pastor at Washington Cathedral. I have been continuing to work on learning the Nez Perce language and Spanish. This book is a celebration of one of the most noble people on the planet.

Among other things The Original Human Beings is the story of a dog! Not just any dog but a rare Beauceron dog. Descended from the war dogs og Rome and a wolf heritage. They were the forefathers of Dobermans and Rottweilers. The personal guardians of Charlemagne -two were buried with him to guard him in the afterlife. Agile athlete of a dog only with muscle of the finest attack dog. They are smart and can finish your sentences but gentle with children and small animals. Unlike other breeds they never escalate the situation. Ya’ka’ meaning black bear in Nimiipuu. He is the wilderness Nany for seven cute Nez Perce brothers and the guardian to a beautiful Honduran Celloist who has chosen the name Never!
