Make It a Hot Kiln Summer! Summer Sessions Are Live

Summer is a great time to start something new, whether you are curious about clay for the first time or ready to build on skills you already have. Our six-week workshops offer a welcoming space to slow down, work with your hands, and create alongside others who enjoy making.
Each session is designed to guide you through the creative process while giving you room to experiment, build confidence, and develop your own style.

You’ll learn:
• Beginner-friendly techniques such as centering, shaping, trimming, and glazing
• Intermediate skills to refine forms, explore new ideas, and expand your creative approach
• Practical studio knowledge with guidance from experienced instructors in a supportive studio community

Featured Workshop: Surface Design
Explore a wide range of surface decoration techniques in a six-week ceramics course designed to help you bring more depth, intention, and personality to your work.
Each week, students will focus on a different approach to decorating ceramic surfaces, including slip trailing, sgraffito, inlay, water etching, underglaze transfers, screen printing for ceramics, and taping and resist glazing techniques. Alongside these hands-on methods, students will also explore foundational design principles such as color theory, composition, balance, and contrast to support stronger creative decision-making. All necessary materials, including slips, underglazes, and tools, are provided. Practice tiles, coasters, and simple forms such as slab plates and cups will be available throughout the six weeks for experimentation and skill-building.
Best suited for students with some wheel throwing or hand-building experience, the focus is primarily on surface decoration rather than form-building. Potters of any skill level are welcome to explore these techniques, though only minimal guidance will be provided on wheel throwing or hand-building.

Outtakes from our “Teapots” themed member showcase! We invited members from across our Seatown and Eastside studios to create their own unique teapots, then came together at our Greenlake studio to celebrate. Members voted on their favorite and most creative pieces, we put each teapot to the test with a pour test, and even squeezed in a 5-minute teapot throwing challenge!

It was such a good time and it was so cool to see everyone’s creations come together!

Everyone's Teapots are on display in the window of our Greenlake studio. Feel free to just walk on by or stop by during our open studio hours (Saturdays 10am – 5pm & Wednesdays 1pm – 7pm) throughout the month of May the check out the showcase!

Explore form, texture, and movement in this six week hand building workshop focused on both functional pieces and sculptural forms. Students will build a dynamic collection of work while learning core techniques including slab construction, pinch shaping, coil building, and bending or altering slabs to create flowing contours, pockets, and dimensional surfaces.

Along the way, we’ll cover designing and supporting wall mounted pieces, creating strong seams and hanging systems, and using darting, carving, paddling, and surface texturing to add depth and character. The session wraps up with surface decoration using slip or underglaze, followed by a full glazing class to bring your work to life.

Perfect for beginners and returning students looking to expand their hand building skills and develop a more sculptural approach.
