As Hurricane Florence approaches the Carolinas, several marine impacts are anticipated for the adjacent Atlantic and the coastal areas of southeast Georgia and northeast Florida. * SURF AND RIP CURRENT RISK...Life- threatening rip currents are expected at northeast Florida and southeast Georgia beaches. Lifeguards have reported strong rip currents at area beaches. * COASTAL FLOODING...Minor tidal flooding potential around daily high tides. Minor beach erosion possible. Peak water levels expected Thursday. * WAVES AND SURF...Surf will build to around 5 to 7 feet tonight and 5 to 8 feet possible Thursday. * Impacts...Minor tidal flooding may impact low lying areas, parks, beaches, campgrounds, boat ramps, and some docks around high tide. * WAVES/SEAS...Building to 6 to 9 feet in the nearshore waters tonight and 8 to 11 feet in the offshore waters.
