Second Tuesday Speaker Series on June 9
Redlands Conservancy's speaker series at Historic Asistencia continues on Tuesday, June 9 with a program about possibly the most historic road in the entire East San Bernardino Valley - Mission Road in Loma Linda. Regional historian Jim Shipp will present the program titled "“Frink Adobe: The Funny Little Street that Changed History.” Shipp is the Project Manager for the Frink Adobe Restoration Project for Two Canyons Conservancy. One of the best-preserved remnants of Loma Linda’s history, the Frink Adobe was built in the mid-1870s along today’s Mission Road. Shipp will reveal the set of events that turned Mission Road into a roadmap of our history, from ancient times to modern developments. Frink Adobe was one of the main features of the road, and its site has the oldest producing citrus grove in the valley. Second Tuesday programs start at 6:30pm with refreshments and 7pm for the program. At Smiley Park in downtown Redlands: noon to 3pm - tables to visit and talks to listen to. Stop by Redlands Conservancy's table and pick up maps and info cards and visit with our staff.
It's all free - no need to spend any money to celebrate Earth!

Lunch, entertainment, beverages, and special treats. This will be your special day to be recognized for making all of Redlands Conservancy's work happen. Some supporters are the donors, some are the doers - many are both! We thank you, and we must show our gratitude! You will receive an invitation in your email in the next few weeks.

Are You Ready for Earth Day?

The official Earth Day is April 22; since this year that date is on a Wednesday, Redlands will celebrate the special day for our Earth on Saturday, April 18. Redlands' Day of Climate Action invites you to participate in the day-long celebration which includes workshops presented at Redlands Conservancy's Historic Asistencia, Burrage Mansion, SURF, and individual locations where participants can join hands-on projects and learning experiences. In the afternoon, you can join the community celebration at Smiley Park for live music, food trucks, resource tables, and lots of activities for kids. Canyon Fest: Live Bands at Gateway Ranch

It's our second Party for the Necklace for 2026, and it will be splendid! Two live bands on stage in the Jeff Waldron Pavilion at the ranch main campus, providing the magic of live music in an open-air setting. No-host food trucks - TheFoodResearch Italian Pizza catering, and Lupe's Tacos - Happy Camper Creamery ice cream, popcorn and cotton candy. A guided hike on one of the trails staged at Gateway Ranch. Guided walk through Gateway Native Plant Demonstration Gardens. A Campari Bar, beer by Ritual Brewing Company, sodas and plenty of water. It all happens on Saturday, April 18, between 3:30 and dusk. This isn’t your typical fundraiser! Canyon Fest supports Redlands Conservancy’s Emerald Necklace (the green space that surrounds Redlands and connects scenic and historic gems! All proceeds goes to funding the emerald necklace program and projects.

Earth Has its Own Special Day, Coming Soon

Redlands Conservancy celebrates Earth every day by saving land from pollution-producing development, using native and drought-tolerant landscaping that support the native wildlife, recycling historic buildings, and encouraging our community to be earth-wise in whatever we do.

On Saturday, April 18, we will make our overt Earth-celebration with two activities. At Gateway Ranch, teacher Leslie Scofield will host another Kids Nature Club activity, Native Plants and Invasive Weeds 9:30-10:45 (9:30 Sign in and Waivers, 9:45 Program start) Kids will explore the Gateway Ranch Native Gardens to learn about the importance that native plants play in our environment, go on a scavenger hunt, and then do some light gardening. Gateway Ranch is located at 31313 Live Oak Canyon Road.
