It’s Fun Fact Friday!
The PDP-1 was the first gaming computer in the Untied States! PDP-1 stands for “Programmed Data Processor- 1”. Steve Russell, a computer programmer from Dartmouth, created the game Spacewar. The game Spacewar was first played on the PDP-1 computer. The PDP-1 was created in 1959 and was the first interactive commercial computer and it sparked the idea for computer gaming.

It’s Fun Fact Friday!
The cars and boats in Miniland USA at Legoland Resort in Carlsbad all appear to move on their own. They never leave their set paths, but don’t use rails. How do they manage that? Beneath the car’s paths are cables that emit a low-level radio wave specific to each vehicle. When the vehicle reaches a charging point on it’s track, one of the computers registers this and the vehicle stops. The computer sets a timer to charge the vehicle for the correct amount of time. Boats are driven by motors controlled by computers. A piece of metal on the hull of the boat allows sensors along it’s track to detect it, and let the computer know the boat’s location. ..

Have you ever wondered what the first message sent over a computer network was? On October 29, 1969, this message was sent through ARPANET, the first packet-switched computer network connected to computer “nodes” at various universities. In order to log in to a remote computer you needed to type “LOGIN”, but the system crashed after the first two letters so the first message sent over a computer network was “LO”. ..
