Hey y'all!
Just a quick note before you schedule an appointment.
Can you do me a solid and let me know UPFRONT that you did your best to try to fix your washer, dryer, stove, or fridge? You googled it, you tried YouTube, and Chat (will destroy the planet) GPT. You got in there and you took stuff apart and thought it was going well, until it wasn't. So you decided you best call a professional at this point and let them take over. Don't feel bad! You gave it your best shot. You can't expect to be able to know how fix everything! And sometimes, AI is completely wrong. And sometimes it takes someone with over 40 years of knowledge to tackle the job.
However, leaving it in a state of disassembly is not "helping" or "saving him time". Even taking a panel off or an icemaker out, or a drum out, is not helping. We really do need the appliance in one piece, turned on and plugged in to be able to do diagnostics. It also can't be in the middle of the kitchen, out in the garage, or on the back porch with no hook ups in sight.
I'm just asking that you tell me when you call so Brian doesn't walk in and SURPRISE! find the appliance in a state of disassembly that he can't do a doggone thing with. At this point, he will turn right back around and kindly head for the door. There's nothing he can do with it in this state and he does not have the time to put it all back together or try to guess what was wrong with it before it was taken apart.
So, if you've been working on it, please, put it back together before you call, like every single screw back together. Then tell me you took it apart to try to fix it. Tell me if you bought the really cheap knock off parts off of Amazon that made the problem worse. It helps us to know what we are getting into before we come to the house so we can be as prepared as possible, bring out any potential parts, tools, ect, to try to get it fixed on the first visit.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Brian is just one guy (and a great one at that) and I am just trying to use his time as efficiently as possible and not waste appointments when he could be somewhere else fixing someone's fridge that isn't cooling.

Brian and I met Sarah Goad about 15 years ago through the Redford Jaycees. We have volunteered together working on various projects throughout the years. We supported each other for nearly 10 years operating both community gardens here in the township. Growing and harvesting thousand's of pounds of organic food for Redford Interfaith Relief, while also providing a place for residents to grow thier own food. She was one of the first to step up and join the Redford Township DEI commission when it was created. I genuinely don't know anyone that gives as much of themselves, mind, heart and soul, to this community as Sarah. Her desire to help others has lead to her new role as Director of Redford Interfaith Relief. Redford's only food bank that serves over 400 families in our community! Her big heart and generous spirit will be a welcome addition to the township board. Please support Sarah Goad for Redford Township Trustee.

A dear customer who has had the same Maytag washer for 50 years wanted hers fixed. It was more than just a washer, it was an old friend. The same washer her grown children were taught how to do laundry. The same washer that has been with her throughout her marriage. With ingenuity and know-how, Brian was able to repair it and keep it going for her. Brian was very familiar with this model, as it was the same one he learned on over 44 years ago. Always a challenge and a joy to keep these old workhorses alive. Brian was not only the right person for the job, but the only person who would happily accept the challenge. Thank you Carol for the letter and your generosity.

It's baby season! Let's help these wonderful creatures in their endeavor to be good mamas. Keep areas secure that you don't want a new family to move into! That includes securing you dryer vent hood covers to prevent unwanted tragedies, trust me, we've seen them and it aint pretty. Take just a little time to make sure birds aren't trying to build nests in the warm air vent, making sure openings are small enough to prevent little ones from seeking the heat from your dryer.
And if you do come across a baby in need or a mama with a family, please contact a local rehabber to find out what to do. There are several good ones in the area such as Halfway Home Wildlife rehab, Nature's helping hands, Motor City possum rescue, Howell's nature center and Bird Center of Michigan. PLEASE DO NOT call "pest" control. It will be certain death for both mama and baby as it is illegal in Michigan to relocate wildlife off your property which often results in the death of an animal just looking for s safe warm place to raise her young. It is also illegal to remove a birds nest in Michigan, so prevention is key to live in harmony with our wild neighbors. So please, be proactive and secure your eaves, vents, and attics. If you happen upon a mama, call a rehabber to have her safely and humanely evicted so her babies aren't left behind to die without her.
Thank you and Happy Spring!!

Hey all! I hope everyone is managing to stay warm during this cold spell. I know your dishwashers aren't! We've had 3 calls for dishwashers not draining last week and all had frozen drain hoses behind the dishwasher. I had another 2 today! We also had one customer who had a frozen water inlet valve under her dishwasher that actually cracked open from the cold! Yikes!
Most dishwashers are installed on an exterior wall and unfortunately, usually aren't very well insulated. So, if you are experiencing a dishwasher that isn't draining, there's a good chance your drain line is frozen and there's really nothing we can do to fix that. You'll just have to wait until it gets a bit warmer for it to thaw out. If you don't want to wait, you could always remove the bottom service panel ( if you have one) and try to circulate some warm air under there with a box fan.
Hope this helps save you the cost of s service call. Stay warm! Peace and thoughts of spring. π¦ππΊπΌπ

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy holidays from our family to yours. This blue-eyed Santa is busy, busy, busy. You'll have to wait for him to visit you after Christmas. Peace and Be well.

It's that time folks! We will be closed until Monday, December 1st. Remember, the holiday is about "giving thanks". Even if your oven breaks down, even if your dishwasher stops working, and yes, even if the Lions can't manage to beat Green Bay, remember, there is always something to be thankful for. If the unexpected happens, at least you'll have a great story to tell! No one ever talks about the Thanksgiving that went perfectly! So, enjoy the day with loved ones. Having time to share with those you love is what it's all about. Peace, be well and a Blessed Thanksgiving!

Happy almost Thanksgiving! Seriously, it's right around the corner, and if you're like me, you realized this just yesterday and panicked just a little. I like to change things up year to year, so time to work on the menu!
Brian is busy as usual and only has 7 more work days available before the big day. We will be closed Wednesday the 26th, back on Monday the December 1st.
Brian will be heading to Chicago once again the Wednesday before Thanksgiving to perform in the Chicago Thanksgiving day parade on Thursday. He drives straight home after the parade to make it in time for dinner! Then back to back parades Friday and Saturday in Grosse Pointe and Garden city!
So before the big day gets here, allow me to make a few suggestions to help ward off potential mishaps:
1. It's always a good idea to keep a thermometer in your oven to make sure your temps on your display are accurate. Most brands allow you to calibrate your oven temp +35 or -35 degrees. Check your owner's manual for instructions. Don't have an owner's manual? Just go on to the manufacture's web page, most will provide an owner's manual by model number.
2. DO NOT SELF CLEAN YOUR OVEN! ( yes, I was yelling, this is so important). It's better to have a dirty oven that works, than a clean one that doesn't.
3. If your dishwasher gives you trouble, go get another one from the living room! In our house, since I do all the cooking, all of the men do all of the dishes. It's a fair trade-off.
4. It's not a bad idea to have a back-up cooking source like a roaster or counter-top convection oven. Bonus, a turkey cooks quicker in a roaster than in an oven (especially if that oven stopped heating). I also use my smoker. Nothing better than smoke turkey legs!
And lastly, have a good time. Don't sweat the small stuff. It's just dinner. What matters most is the people you are gathered with. Enjoy yourself and remember, don't talk politics with Uncle Butch!!
