Game Night is coming to the Redding Public Market! 🎲
Bring friends, bring family, or just bring yourself — it’s relaxed, welcoming, and easy to join in. We’ll have games you can borrow (or feel free to bring your own), so all you have to do is show up, grab a snack, and settle in for a fun night out. Teachers will also be available for games you’ve never played before. Like this post to let us know you’re interested in coming.

Monty Python themed version of Fluxx. The random and chaotic nature of the Fluxx engine makes it a perfect vehicle for the crazy world of Monty Python!

At the start of the game, each player holds three cards and on a turn a player draws one card, then plays one card. By playing cards, you can put new rules into play that change numerous aspects of the game: how many cards to draw or play, how many cards you can hold in hand or keep on the table in front of you, and (most importantly) how to win the game.

The card mix focuses on Holy Grail with other references added from Flying Circus and other Python material. For example, one win condition card might require you have to have the Knights who Say Ni and a Shrubbery card face up in front of you.

I got the paperwork back and it’s official: The First Turn LLC is real.

This is one of those quiet-but-huge moments — the kind where nothing looks different on the outside, but everything feels different on the inside. A new adventure is starting.

The First Turn is about introducing people to board games and new games, and helping grow game culture in a way that’s welcoming, thoughtful, and relationship-first. It’s still early days, but the idea of building something from the ground up — with intention and care — is both exciting and a little terrifying (in a good way).

I’m grateful for the encouragement, conversations, and support that have already happened, and I’m genuinely excited to see where this goes next.

Here’s to first steps, first turns, and the long game ahead. 🎲❤️
