We easily recognized these 3 of our 4 legged patients getting the best care at Cornell University Veterinary Specialists. ๐Ÿ˜

It is critical for guide dogs to get annual eye exams to ensure their vision is sharp enough to safely navigate complex environments with their handler. ๐Ÿฆฎ

And that's a wrap! โœ…

Cornell University Veterinary Specialists' Board Certified Ophthalmologist Dr. Rachel Matusow Wynne, MS, DVM, DACVO, saw her very last group of ACVO patients (German Shepherds Chloe, Cari & Ryder) before officially closing out the 2026 season.

As proud partners of the ACVO-SAVES Program, we would like to thank all those who stopped by for a quick check-in with the CUVS Ophthalmology service. It is our honor to play a part in the continued health and success of service & working animals nationwide. ๐Ÿพ

Did you know that Lyme disease was originally named after a town in Connecticutโ“

Over the last two months, scientists and researchers have found that the current tick season is much different from recent years. With 2026 tick samples being found to be positive for Lyme at a higher-than-average rate of 40%, it's crucial that pet parents understand where and how to avoid possible bites.

Outdoor areas to avoid:
๐Ÿƒ Areas with tall grass & brush
๐Ÿƒ Heavy leaves
๐Ÿƒ Woody areas

Places to check:
๐Ÿ• In & around pets ears
๐Ÿ• Around eyelids & tail
๐Ÿ• Under front legs & collar
๐Ÿ• Between back legs & toes

Signs of potential Lyme:
โš ๏ธ Lameness
โš ๏ธ Joint swelling
โš ๏ธ Poor exercise
โš ๏ธ Loss of appetite
โš ๏ธ Fever

It is always best to see an expert if common clinical signs of Lyme disease become present. Visit the link in our bio for additional Lyme disease findings and resources.

Sgt. Stubby was a Connecticut stray dog turned WWI hero. He is credited with saving many lives and was also a morale booster for the men and women serving our country during a very difficult war. He was the first dog ever promoted to sergeant in the U.S. Army!

Serving with the 102nd Infantry, Sergeant Stubby is still remembered as one of the most decorated war dogs in U.S. history. Thank you for your service Stubby and thank you to all who served as we honor you on this Memorial Day.

Beautiful Stella is thriving under hospice care. Stella is a senior kitty with cancer. She has beat all odds and survived comfortably for many years due to her amazing family and good vet care. Recently, she began to decline so we designed a simple weekly treatment plan and adjusted her medications. What this video depicts is sheer joy! Never give up!

The Goldendoodle is a very popular dog breed. They are a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. They are highly social, intelligent and often sought out for therapy dog work. They adore kids and make great family dogs. They are "somewhat " hypoallergenic and require a professional grooming every 6- 8 weeks or their fur will become extremely matted. They have sweet and silly temperaments.
