A practical note as the year closes. If you have dental benefits, most plans run on a calendar year, and whatever you haven't used by December 31 does not carry forward. It resets, and the value is simply gone. There's no prize for leaving it on the table. If there's treatment you've been putting off, the end of the year is a sensible time to handle it, both for your health and for what you've already paid in. This is a 1968 campaign poster from Eldridge Cleaver's run for president on the Peace and Freedom Party ticket — a former Black Panther who came from a hard past and kept widening his view of the world.

In Dr. Klayman's words: "A reformed criminal who first joined the Black Panthers, but widened his perspective to believe in equality for all… in 1968 America. What this man stood for is unchallengeable."

History is rarely simple. That's exactly why it's worth talking about.
