RED BANK – Developer Roger Mumford is under contract to purchase the Atlantic Club site on Maple Avenue; the club is relocating into Super Foodtown’s building following the store’s recent closure. The major reshuffling of uses is set to launch redevelopment at the intersection of Broad Street and Maple Avenue (Route 35), potentially redefining one of Red Bank’s most highly visible and busiest intersections.

RED BANK – More than 200 students, teachers, relatives and neighbors gathered at Count Basie Park last Saturday afternoon to remember 16-year-old Terry Nathaniel Haupt Jr., a Red Bank Regional High School student who was fatally struck by a New Jersey Transit train near Red Bank station May 13.

EATONTOWN – Borough officials awarded more than $800,000 in first-round grants from the $5 million Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) negotiated with Netflix. The funds will directly benefit schools, nonprofits, youth programs and borough capital projects, officials said.

TINTON FALLS – Despite years of efforts to control recurring odors from the landfill at the Monmouth County Reclamation Center, complaints from nearby communities have persisted. Now, some borough residents have filed a class action lawsuit against Waste Management of New Jersey, Inc., the company that operates and maintains the landfill. The lawsuit seeks a jury trial and more than $5 million in damages to end the excessive odor problems.
