Phoenix Trinity has become one of the most respected names in the high-end 2011 world, known for exceptional fit, finish, and attention to detail. The HTAC takes that reputation and wraps it into a pistol that feels like a custom race car and a duty gun had a very expensive child.
Everything about it is refined. The machining, the grip texture, the slide work, and the trigger all speak to the level of craftsmanship that goes into these pistols. It’s the kind of firearm that makes you stop and admire it before you ever pull the trigger.
Topping it off is the Trijicon SRO, one of the most popular pistol optics in competitive shooting. With its large window and crisp dot, the SRO was designed to help shooters acquire the sight picture quickly while maintaining excellent visibility. There’s a reason you see so many top shooters running them.
Paired with Hornady Critical Defense, one of the most recognized ammunition designs on the market, this setup combines premium engineering from top to bottom.
What I love most about the HTAC is that it reminds me of a Leica camera or a handmade Swiss watch. Sure, there are less expensive ways to accomplish the same task—but sometimes craftsmanship itself is worth appreciating.

Savage Axis chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, topped with a Weaver optic. It may not be the flashiest rifle in the room, but the Savage Axis has earned a loyal following by delivering accuracy and value that often punches above its price point.
The 6.5 Creedmoor itself has one of the more interesting stories in modern shooting. Introduced in 2007, it quickly gained popularity because of its excellent balance of manageable recoil, accuracy, and long-range performance. Hunters, competitive shooters, and recreational marksmen all seemed to arrive at the same conclusion: it just works.
Then there’s Weaver. Long before optics became covered in tactical buzzwords and giant turrets, Weaver was helping American shooters put glass on rifles. Founded in the 1930s, the company became one of the pioneers of practical rifle optics and mounting systems. For generations, a Weaver scope meant dependable performance without unnecessary complication.

Chambered in 10mm Auto, the XTEN brings serious capability to the P320 platform. Originally developed in the 1980s, the 10mm earned a reputation for its impressive velocity, flat trajectory, and versatility. While it briefly saw law enforcement adoption, it eventually found a loyal following among outdoorsmen, hunters, and enthusiasts who appreciated its performance.
The XTEN Endure takes that power and packages it into a modern striker-fired platform with excellent ergonomics, optics-ready capability, and the modularity that made the P320 series so successful. Despite the potent cartridge, Sig did a great job making the pistol feel balanced and surprisingly manageable.
Alongside it is my trusty 3V Gear backpack. Named after the phrase Veni, Vidi, Vici—“I came, I saw, I conquered”—these packs have earned a reputation for durability and thoughtful organization. Whether I’m carrying camera gear, range equipment, or everyday essentials, it’s one of those pieces of gear that simply works.
What I love about this setup is the contrast: cutting-edge pistol technology paired with a cartridge that has been earning respect for decades. Old-school power, modern ex*****on.

There’s something timeless about this setup.
A stainless Walther .380 with its sleek European styling, paired with Hornady Critical Defense and SIS Training Gear. The Walther design has been turning heads for generations. Slim, elegant, and refined, it’s one of those fi****ms that proves function and style can coexist beautifully.
Many people associate Walther pistols with classic spy movies and sophisticated characters, but what made these fi****ms truly successful wasn’t Hollywood—it was thoughtful engineering. Compact dimensions, smooth lines, and practical design made them favorites for those who appreciated quality craftsmanship.
Hornady Critical Defense is one of the most recognizable modern ammunition designs, combining decades of ballistic development into a cartridge built around reliability and consistency.
Looking for James Bond gym wear that actually performs? S.I.S. Training Gear makes Bond-inspired athletic clothing for serious training — t-shirts, joggers, hoodies, and jackets built with premium performance fabrics and the iconic S.I.S. logo as seen in Skyfall. Tailored athletic fit. Military-grade materials. Zero compromise on style.

There’s a certain elegance to some fi****ms, and the stainless Walther PPK/PPK-style .380 has it in spades.
Long before polymer frames and optics-ready slides became the norm, Walther was building sleek, compact pistols that combined style, innovation, and practicality. The polished stainless finish catches the light beautifully, giving it that timeless European look that feels just as at home in a classic spy film as it does in a modern collection.
Of course, many people immediately think of James Bond when they see a Walther, but honestly, this pistol’s appeal goes far beyond that. The slim profile, manageable size, and refined styling have made it a favorite among countless shooters over the years. It’s one of those rare designs that feels equally at home in the hands of men and women alike—sophisticated, approachable, and undeniably cool.
Paired here with Hornady Critical Defense, a cartridge line known for thoughtful engineering and dependable performance, the setup blends classic style with modern ammunition technology.
And alongside it is SIS Training Gear, equipment designed around preparation, organization, and personal development. Good gear isn’t just about what you carry—it’s about being intentional and prepared in everything you do.
What I love most about this setup is that it feels less like equipment and more like a collection of well-designed tools. Clean lines, polished steel, and timeless craftsmanship never go out of style.

Some of the best gear stories start with something that already has a few miles on it.
Today on the bench is a pre-loved G***k 19 from WeShoot, equipped with a Vortex red dot, paired with Hornady Critical Defense and my trusty 3V Gear backpack. The G***k 19 has been one of the most influential handguns of the modern era since its introduction in the late 1980s. It struck a balance between size, capacity, reliability, and shootability that countless manufacturers have tried to replicate ever since.
Adding a red dot optic is one of the biggest evolutions in handgun shooting over the last decade. What was once mostly seen in competition shooting has become increasingly common among enthusiasts and professionals alike. The Vortex optic gives the pistol a modern edge while keeping the setup practical and easy to use.
Hornady Critical Defense has earned its reputation through thoughtful engineering, with the Flex Tip design helping promote reliable feeding and consistent performance. It’s one of those products that became popular because it solved real-world problems rather than simply chasing trends.
And then there’s the 3V Gear backpack. Inspired by the phrase Veni, Vidi, Vici—“I came, I saw, I conquered”—these bags have become known for durability, organization, and versatility. Whether you’re heading to the range, carrying camera gear, or just out for the day, a good backpack is one of the hardest-working pieces of equipment you own.
There’s also something cool about a pre-loved firearm. Every mark tells a story. Every bit of wear means it was carried, trained with, enjoyed, and appreciated. That’s character you simply can’t buy new.

Classic Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum revolver—an American icon. Since the introduction of the .357 Magnum cartridge in the 1930s, Smith & Wesson revolvers have earned a reputation for accuracy, reliability, and elegant design. There’s something timeless about blued steel and stainless steel revolvers. No batteries, no optics, no distractions—just precision engineering and fundamentals.
Beside it sits one of the most important cameras ever made: the Leica M3 Double Stroke. Introduced in 1954, the M3 changed photography forever. Its bright viewfinder, incredible build quality, and silky smooth operation made it the camera of choice for generations of photographers. Even today, many consider it one of the finest 35mm cameras ever produced. Thanks to THE PHOTO CENTER in Brick NJ for loaning us the Leica.
It’s impossible to talk about Leica without mentioning Henri Cartier-Bresson. Often called the father of modern street photography, Cartier-Bresson carried Leica rangefinders throughout much of his career and used them to capture what he famously called “the decisive moment”—those fleeting fractions of a second where composition, light, and human emotion all come together perfectly. His work helped define photojournalism and influenced nearly every photographer who picked up a camera afterward.
Looking at these two tools side by side, I can’t help but appreciate the similarities. Both were built to last. Both reward skill and patience. And both have become legends because they simply did their jobs exceptionally well.

The P365 series changed the concealed carry world by proving that a compact pistol didn’t have to sacrifice capacity or shootability. The FUSE takes that idea even further with a longer slide, increased sight radius, and enhanced controllability while still maintaining the slim profile that made the P365 famous.
And let’s be honest—the duck camo finish is just plain fun. It gives the pistol a personality all its own and reminds us that not every firearm has to be black, gray, and serious. Sometimes it’s okay for gear to have a little character.
Hornady Critical Defense is one of the most recognized defensive ammunition lines available. Hornady developed the Flex Tip design to promote reliable feeding and consistent performance, making it a popular choice among those who appreciate thoughtful engineering and attention to detail.
Carrying the whole setup is my 3V Gear backpack. Named after the famous phrase Veni, Vidi, Vici—“I came, I saw, I conquered”—3V Gear has built a reputation for rugged packs that balance organization, durability, and everyday practicality. Whether you’re heading to the range, the studio, or out on an adventure, a good bag is one of the most underrated pieces of equipment you’ll own.

Sometimes the most interesting setups are the ones that blend practicality with personality.
The Smith & Wesson SD9 has built a reputation as a straightforward, reliable striker-fired pistol that focuses on the fundamentals. No unnecessary frills, no gimmicks—just a handgun designed to be dependable and approachable. But this Robin’s Egg blue and silver finish gives it a completely different character. It’s a reminder that functional doesn’t have to mean boring.
Paired with Hornady Critical Defense, you’re looking at a cartridge designed specifically around dependable feeding and consistent performance. The distinctive Flex Tip design was developed to help reduce clogging through common barriers and has made Critical Defense one of the most recognized defensive ammunition lines on the market.
The RBlack karambit brings an entirely different history to the table. Inspired by traditional Southeast Asian utility blades, the curved profile was originally developed for agricultural work before evolving into the recognizable design enthusiasts know today. The wood handle adds a classic touch that contrasts beautifully against the modern materials surrounding it.
Beside it sits the RBlack multitool—one of those pieces of gear that proves versatility never goes out of style. Whether you’re on the range, in the workshop, or out in the field, a good multitool earns its place by solving problems before they become headaches.
Bringing everything together is the Vaultek safe. What I appreciate about Vaultek’s approach is the blend of modern technology and security. Biometric access, electronic controls, and solid construction represent how far firearm storage has evolved from the simple lockboxes of years past.

The Troy 5.56 “Other” is one of those platforms that immediately feels built for hard use.
Compact, maneuverable, and purpose-driven, Troy Industries built these with a strong focus on durability and modern tactical ergonomics. The “other firearm” configuration became especially popular in NJ because it offered shooters a practical, compact setup while staying within the legal framework here—and Troy became one of the names people trusted in that category.
What stands out to me is the balance. It’s compact without feeling cramped, aggressive without being overdone, and the controls/layout feel familiar the second you shoulder it. It’s the kind of rifle that feels equally at home on the range, in training classes, or sitting in a studio under dramatic lighting.
And visually? Troy rifles photograph beautifully. The machining, rails, textures, and industrial feel all come alive under good light.
