Film of the Week: Kodak Ektacolor Pro 400
(previously Porta 400)
๐Ÿ“ธ Shot by Jeff

Kodak Pro 400 has become one of the most loved color negative films for both professionals and everyday film shooters โ€” and for good reason.

Originally designed with portrait photography in mind, Portra 400 is known for its natural skin tones, soft contrast, and wide dynamic range. It performs beautifully in changing light, making it a versatile choice for portraits, street photography, travel, and even landscapes.

With fine grain, rich detail, and warm, balanced colors, Pro 400 gives images that classic film feel while still keeping plenty of flexibility when scanning or editing. Many photographers also love how well it handles overexposure, giving bright, airy results without losing detail.

Available in 35mm and 120 formats, itโ€™s an easy film to keep loaded in your camera for just about any occasion.

Have you shot with Pro 400 before? If not, let us know โ€” whatโ€™s your go-to film stock?

Share your favorite shot taken with Pro 400! Head over to our stories and send us your favorite image.

๐Ÿ“ธ PHOTO TIP โ€” Donโ€™t Forget to Clean Your Gear ๐ŸŒฟ

Spring pollen, dust, and fingerprints can build up fast this time of year. Give your camera and lenses a quick refresh with a microfiber cloth or lens cleaning pen before your next shoot.

Need a deeper clean? We also offer in-house sensor and camera cleanings to help keep your gear performing its best โœจ

How often do you clean your gear? ๐Ÿ‘€

๐ŸŽž๏ธ Film of the Week: Phoenix II

Phoenix II is a complete reimagining of the originalโ€”rebuilt from the ground up with new dyes, couplers, and even an experimental layer structure.

Itโ€™s a bit more refined than its predecessor, but still full of character for that true analog feel. Expect improved contrast, finer grain, and better sharpness, with more detail held in both shadows and highlights. Youโ€™ll also get a bit more flexibility when shootingโ€”though it still shines best with accurate exposure.

Scanning has been smoothed out as well, but your final look can vary depending on your setupโ€”making every roll a little unique.

If youโ€™re looking to try something different and lean into the creative side of film, Phoenix II is a fun one to experiment with. Let go of expectations and see where it takes you.

Swing by and grab a roll to try for yourself ๐ŸŽž๏ธ

Back in the shop tomorrow!
