On this anniversary of D-Day, we remember the courage of the Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944. Their bravery changed the course of history and secured the freedoms we cherish today. We honor the heroes who gave everything in defense of liberty. May we never forget their sacrifice.

Pennsylvania House Fellowship 06/05/2026

The Pennsylvania House Legislative Fellowship Program is accepting applications for its fall 2026 semester.

The program is based at Pennsylvania’s Capitol Building in Harrisburg where fellows are assigned to work in House standing committees or leadership offices; are compensated for their work (which may also include college credit); and are provided the opportunities to draft and present their own legislation, attend meet-and-greets with various public officials and staff, and tour some of the Commonwealth’s historic public spaces, to name a few.

Qualified applicants must be undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or law school students; enrolled in a Pennsylvania college/university or a Pennsylvania resident enrolled in an out-of-state institution; and pursuing any major with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

For more information or to apply, click below. Applications can be submitted via email to [email protected]. The deadline to apply for the fall term is July 1.

Pennsylvania House Fellowship The PA House Fellowship Program was created in 1982 by the BMC Leadership of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as an opportunity for students to be provided with work experience, education, and insight into the people, issues, and politics of the legislative process.

A Pennsylvania law banning the use of handheld devices while driving has been in effect since last June, with violators being issued warnings. Starting June 5, violators will face fines.
Paul Miller’s Law limits the use of handheld cell phones or other communications devices while operating a motor vehicle. The statute is named for a young man who was killed in a crash involving a distracted tractor-trailer driver in Monroe County in 2010.
On June 5, violators will be issued a summary offense, which carries a $50 fine, plus court costs and other fees. If a driver is convicted of homicide by vehicle and driving while distracted, he/she may be sentenced up to an additional five years in prison.
Drivers can still use phones if employing hands-free technology, such as a docking station, Bluetooth, or speaker. You may also use your phone to contact emergency responders.
According to PennDOT, more than 11,000 crashes resulted from distracted driving in 2023, leading to 65 deaths and 6,700 injuries. Pennsylvania joins 28 other states with hands-free laws.

I stand with our proud law enforcement community. Sheriffs from across the Commonwealth, including Berks County Sheriff’s Mandy Miller, who is to the left of me in the above picture, were at the Capitol today to garner support from the Legislature. It was great to meet so many brave men and women who serve their communities.

I had an exciting time joining State Game
Warden Ryan Zawada for a ride along through some of
the game lands in the district. Ryan holds a wealth of
knowledge about the area, wildlife and laws regarding
hunting. To watch the full-length video, follow this link

This Sunday, May 24, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) will host a Fish for Free day to allow anyone (resident or non-resident) to legally fish on all Pennsylvania waterways. No license is required, but all other fishing regulations still apply.

This is the first of two dates set by the PFBC to enhance fishing opportunities. The next day is Independence Day, Saturday, July 4. This is a great way to expose the next generation of anglers to the outdoors. More information about fishing in Pennsylvania is available here: https://www.pa.gov/agencies/fishandboat
