Aeolus Quartet

Yesterday night's dream team!! ✨One of the joys of chamber music life is making music with dear friends!!! Thank you so much to for having us, and for an exciting evening of Prokofiev, Schumann, and Shulman bookended by Mozart 🤩✨

What an immense gift it's been for us to spend the past month immersed in the music and company of the phenomenal !!! 🎸

We are full of admiration for the many hats you wear, Steve: composer, electric guitarist, educator, mentor, father, husband, phenomenal storyteller, patient navigator of Manhattan traffic, lover of groove. We are so grateful to have gotten to know you not only as a wildly inspiring musical collaborator, but as a dear friend. Thank you, Steve, for your generosity, virtuosity, imagination, fearlessness, encouragement, and music. We cherish you, are so excited for more musical adventures together ✨🔥

It was an absolutely wild ride to perform Steve's guitar quintets Physical Property and Ancestors with him on either end of his (in his own words!) "epic-ass" quartet, One Red Rose. There was much counting, and even more grooving: very intense fun for a retirement celebration! 🎉 🐯

In April, we got to enjoy a deep dive into Steve's family history with our fantastic friends .duo.project , and . Memoir draws from the story of Steve's mother and we had an absolutely fantastic time putting together this incredible 75 minute musical tapestry!

Last but not least, a HUGE shoutout to the incredible .e.evan and for being absolutely invaluable cello bosses and colleagues! 🔥 While we missed during her maternity leave, we are so lucky we had the opportunity to make music with Julia and Ari. Thank you both for your unceasing energy, deep sensitivity and spirit for chamber music, and all the heart you put into these projects 🩷🎻

Our hearts are bursting after this Friday's concert ! It was an absolute gift to make music and spend time with the one and only Donald Weilerstein 🎻✨ studied with Don during graduate school at NEC, and it was deeply meaningful and joyful for all of us to share this Dvorak Quintet together! Don's musicianship, humanity, humility, and dedication to the spirit and vitality of music will continue to inspire us, always! 🙏

We had an absolutely fantastic time sharing our Mozart and Bacewicz quartets in Reading during the evening concert, and with incredible highschoolers in Hamburg, PA during a fun afternoon outreach!
We are so grateful to the FOCM Reading board for their generosity and hospitality during our stay - Reading is a deeply special musical home for us and we can't wait to be back next year 🫶

Snow day bliss! ☃️ We had an amazing time last week rehearsing 's Memoir for quartet, percussion duo, and narrator - can't wait to share it at Princeton in April! We had so much fun after an amazing couple of hours workshopping with Steve that we forgot to take a real pic 🙃 Stay warm everyone!! 💕

We wanted to give a shoutout and express our deepest joy and gratitude to our fantastic friend and cellist, !!! Julia has been an enormously positive part of this week - discussing musical textures (bubble wrap to whipped cream!) with kids at our school shows, and bringing the most beautiful presence to our musicmaking ❤️

Along with upcoming Ae**us performances, you can catch Julia in early 2026 with her - tour highlights include San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, , and the US Virgin Islands. Julia currently resides in Columbus, where she a Visiting Assistant Professor of Cello at .

We are so excited to help kick off this week's Mannes Chamber Music Festival with a sold out performance this Thursday evening 11/6 !!! 🤩 Looking forward to sharing Bacewicz Quartet 3, Beethoven op 18. 1, Strum and Overture & Chorale. We hope to see some friendly faces there! 🎶✨🫶
