If you've seen anything about martial arts on social media, you might've heard people say "forms are pointless" or "forms don't work". The truth is, they're right. Or at least they're right that forms don't work directly in fighting; however, that's not actually the point of forms at all.

Forms are a means of training and teaching basic movements in a sequence with other basics. They teach you how to punch, kick, block, stand, and anything else properly. They teach you what perfect technique looks like and can even include portions that apply in fighting, as long as you take them in small chunks and properly train and adapt them with sparring.
