🍦 The ice cream truck came to Sunflower! 🌻

Yes, it was a fun and delicious treat, but it was also a chance to practice meaningful skills in a real life moment!

At Sunflower, learning doesn’t only happen sitting at a table. Everyday experiences like hearing the ice cream truck, deciding what you want, waiting your turn, ordering, making a choice, communicating with others, and enjoying a treat with friends create natural opportunities to build important skills.

These are the moments we love. Learning through play, experiences, and everyday life. 💛

Our RBTs provide individualized ABA services in community settings, including summer camp, helping clients build social, communication, and adaptive skills in real-life environments. Every moment is an opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive 🌻❤️

We traded paintbrushes for fresh blackberries and let our learners explore, create, and have fun! There were messy hands, big smiles, lots of laughter, and so many opportunities for learning along the way.

These simple, child-led activities help build communication, fine motor skills, sensory exploration, joint attention, and social engagement, all while following each child’s interests.

At Sunflower, caring for children means always being ready when it matters most.

Over the course of this week and next, every member of our team, both clinical and administrative, is renewing their CPR and First Aid certifications.

While we hope these skills are never needed, we’re committed to making sure every child in our care is surrounded by people who are trained, prepared, and ready to respond.

Sensory play is always more fun with friends. 🌻

Squish, splash, create! 🫐🎨 Our social skills group got a little messy and a whole lot creative as we squished fresh berries into paint and turned nature into beautiful works of art! Along the way, we practiced sharing, taking turns, exploring textures, and expressing ourselves through creativity. Learning is always sweeter with a little berry fun! 💜🍓🫐

☀️🧺 Picnic fun was a hit at our Summer Social Skills Group!

Last week, our group enjoyed a beautiful picnic, made fresh lemonade and sweet tea, and, most importantly, built new friendships. It was wonderful to see everyone connecting, laughing, and practicing social skills in such a fun, relaxed setting!

We can't wait to see what exciting activities are coming up next!
