Introducing the Thompson Family Veterans Village: a permanent housing neighborhood for veterans at risk of homelessness, right next to Valor Home in Akron.

A groundbreaking for this project will be held on Thursday, June 25th starting at 10 AM at Valor Home and will be open to the public. We hope to see the community support as we begin construction!

On June 5th, you can swing by the Bean and the Baker for a cup of coffee and learn more about Big Brothers Big Sisters in the morning, and you can stop by our open house for our new Ravenna health center at 771 N Freedom St starting at 4PM!

On Friday, June 5th, we will be tabling at the Bean and the Baker in Ravenna from 9AM - 12PM! Be sure to stop by, say hi, and meet with us to discuss mentorship and supporting our local youth.

2026 gave us another successful Hunger Challenge, but a big congratulations goes to Ravenna Center of Hope for bringing in the most food and funds in April!

Thank you to everyone who gave so generously this year, your impact truly makes a difference! Together, you collected an incredible 19,215 food items and a whopping $90,073.16 in monetary donations, surpassing last year’s totals by a wide margin!
Your compassion for your neighbors does not go unnoticed. Because of you, Portage County continues to grow stronger, healthier, and more supported.

We can’t wait to see what next year brings! In the meantime, if you’d like to keep making a difference, Ravenna Center of Hope and Kent Social Services welcome support all year long.

On this Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave individuals who served our country and made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. May their courage never be forgotten.
