For more than two decades, RESPEC has helped monitor and protect the rock at an American icon - Mount Rushmore National Memorial. ⛰️

Originally designed and installed by RESPEC in the late 1990s, the Rock Block Monitoring System (RBMS) tracks subtle movements and temperatures. In 2010, RESPEC advanced the system with a new fiber‑optic RBMS, increasing durability, reducing maintenance needs, and improving resistance to lightning and environmental impacts.

Today, RESPEC continues to maintain the system and provides regular reporting to the National Park Service, ensuring reliable data for one of the nation’s most recognizable landmarks.

Field safety looks a little different at Yellowstone National Park. 🦬

When some of the biggest jobsite hazards include bison, elk, and other curious animals, situational awareness takes on a whole new meaning! Working in places like this is a good reminder that safety in the field means respecting the environment you’re working in and knowing the risks, whether they come from equipment, terrain, or a 2,000 pound coworker with horns.

Stay alert, keep your distance, and let the bison have the right of way. Always. 😄

Keeping roads safe and the Everglades protected is now easier thanks to smart monitoring.

When water levels rise in the canal next to Everglades National Park, it can spell trouble for US Highway 41 west of Miami. That’s why RESPEC designed a road-based monitoring system that keeps an eye on things 24/7.

We installed sensors, telemetry equipment, and dataloggers at six key locations, all feeding into an online dashboard. Teams can check real-time water and soil moisture levels, download data, and make quick decisions based on current conditions.

Happy National Park Week! 🌲

From towering peaks to hidden trails, our national parks are the ultimate playground, and we’re proud to help keep them safe and thriving for generations.

This week, we’ll be highlighting projects where RESPEC has partnered with the National Park Service to preserve and enhance these incredible spaces. Through innovative infrastructure and environmental stewardship, our work helps ensure these parks remain sustainable, accessible, and ready for adventure for years to come.
