STARS is a No Kill Animal Rescue in the Black Hills of South Dakota. We strongly believe in helping our community keep animals out of shelters.

We microchip pets for $25, and provide low-cost spay & neuter clinics.

Huge thank you to everyone at Black Hills Federal Credit Union staff and to all the donors that donated.

This was so wonderful because we did not know how we were going to cover July's rent. Thank god, thanks to BHFCU, we were able to pay our rent the other day.

Thank you BHFCU for all your support and doing this another year. We recieved several donations and a check a little over $1,300. Our rent was $1,445, what a great feeling to be able to pay our rent before it was due.

Can you find one of our rescue animals in the picture?? ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thank you for helping us on our misson.

****Courtesty Post***

Ghost is a 5 year old male Husky/Retriever mix. Neutered, micro chipped, current on vaccinations, housebroken.
Very sweet and loving, towards adults. Loves lots of attention, lap time, snuggling, one on one . Hasn't been around children very often , played well but becomes nervous with extra commotion, excitement limited time with them. Not recommended.

Plays good with other dogs, but has shown aggression towards them unexpectedly, and viscousness. Better to be as the only pet.

Strongly dislikes, storms, getting wet, loud noises, too much excitement, traveling. Frightens easily at the sight of leashes, dislikes car rides, becomes anxious. Needs coaxing, treats, and lots of praise for simple grooming, ( brushing.)

Need to rehome ASAP. Willing to negotiate 30 day trial, if it does not work out can come back and we will try another home. .
Thank you!

We do require a home check.

Please message us if you like to do a meet and greet.

We are in need of a foster home for these 2 kitty's.

They need to stay together. Please no negitive comments.
Penelope & Cheeto โ€“ Bonded Pair

CRITICAL: Penelope is visibly pregnant and due at any time!
Penelope: Smaller build, smaller head, slightly darker orange fur. She is a gentle sweetheart.

Cheeto: Fluffier hair, broader face, slightly lighter orange. He is super affectionate, loves to be held on your shoulders, and loves high spaces (like the top of kitchen cabinets). He also loves water and will lay in the sink while the faucet runs!

Their Likes: They are deeply emotionally bonded and attached at the hip. They love to follow you everywhereโ€”including sitting on your lap in the bathroom! They love cuddling together, hanging out by window screens, and climbing into plastic storage totes.

Their Dislikes: None! They are incredibly kind, low-maintenance, and easygoing. They will vocalize to let you know when they want fresh food or water, but they are peaceful, perfect companions.

Vetting Status: Both are currently not fixed and not up-to-date on shots.

Timeline Notice: I do need to have them rehomed by the end of tomorrow night (Tuesday night).

*If anyone could foster them we will supply you with everything you need. We are looking for a foster to help mom deliver her babies and care for them for 8 weeks.

We will cover all vet care, supplies and food. They both will be fixed and up to date on vaccines except the mom. We will do all that after she is finished nursing. We will test them for fiv and feline leukemia.

We do require a vet reference and your landlords information and a home check too.

Please message us or call Michelle at 605 515 3364 thank you

๐Ÿถ ๐Ÿถ Foster Home Needed๐Ÿถ ๐Ÿถ

Look at these cuties. We just rescued them in. Their mom was unfortunately hit by a car and passed away. We are not sure of their breed. They are 5 weeks old.

They are not up for adoption yet and will need to be seen by our vet in 2 weeks for their wellness exam. When they are 8 weeks old they will be up for adoption now.

We do believe in liter box training for several reasons.
1- It is safer for them. If they eat p*e pads it cost $1400 surgery to save them.
2- It helps them realize when they feel the sand or dirt outside they know to go potty.
3- It helps keep them cleaner.
4- Easy to clean up

We also like having a kennel in there area to help with kennel training, and it makes it so much easier to clean their pen while they are inside the kennel .

If you could help us foster them, we will supply you with everything you need to care for them.

We do require a ๐Ÿ“ƒ application to be filled out, your landlords information ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ง, and a ๐Ÿก home check.

Please message us if you like to help us foster them. Thank you

๐Ÿ‘ Huge thank you to you all for making my day a better one yesterday, after I had a meltdown. I, Michelle Brock just feel I am working so hard and getting nowhere. As soon as we are caught up it does not take long to start sinking in the hole again.
๐Ÿ• ๐Ÿˆ ๐Ÿ‡ ๐ŸŽ
After talking to Lori yesterday I felt better. It's kinda funny, in a way. When Lori has her meltdowns and wants to throw in the towel, I can calm her down and talk her out of it. Then when I have my meltdowns, she is always there for me and talks me out of it.

Running a animal rescue is extremely hard. It is very emotional, physicality hard word, you never have a day off, you sacrifice so much, it also is very very very exspensive. Answering the many phone calls, messaging everyone back when I can, taking the animals to vet and doing spay and neuter clinics, it all takes a toll on you.

๐Ÿ’ธ So, to everyone that has donated to help us with our tough time, we appreciate you so much. Yesterday we were able to buy $1,374.98 in food. I still need to buy more cat litter and more cat food, that I will get on Thursday.

We could not do what we do without you.
๐Ÿงโ€โ™‚๏ธ ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ ๐Ÿงโ€โ™€๏ธ
Please have a Blessed ๐Ÿ™Œ Day

New Update------- We have enough funds to buy all the food the rescue needs. Thank you everyone that has donated. Now we just need prayers to help pay $3,500 in remaining bills. --------

Original post
Hello All,
we want to thank everyone that has donated $640 out of the $1,500 would love to reach to help us feed our rescue animals.

So, the other day, we were hoping to get food but we did not reach our goal and Michelle run out of time before she had to go to her full time job.

Today, Michelle needs prayers. She had a meltdown at Walmart while loading up the cat food that was bought with the funds raised. She is so worried because we have no funds for food, vet bills, utilities and we can not even pay the loan back yet for the vet bill we recent borrowed. Saying no is the hardest this for her and for her to talk about she is not making a difference, breaks our heart.

Please, help us reinsure Michelle that things will be ok. She said, she cant keep doing this. She works 15 hours most days and donates all her funds from landscaping, rototilling and even funds from her full time job to help the rescue that she loves with all her heart.

We are currently in need of $5,000 to be caught up with everything. Michelle said she is going to start selling her stuff and donate it all to help the rescue.

Please help her keep her chin up and smile, by donating $1 to cash app or $5 through PayPal or venmo. You all have a great day.
