Just wrapped up an incredible week at the SWAN Conference in Tampa.

One of the highlights: joining Dave Disney Project Engineer at Hilton Head Public Service District, as he took the stage to share his perspective on the real benefits of SCADA in modern utility operations.

A few ideas that resonated with the room:

SCADA is foundational, but not the whole picture. It's one critical layer in a stack of systems — and only delivers value when integrated thoughtfully with the rest.

Most implementations get the user experience wrong. Alarm overloads, irrelevant data, and missing insights mean the system is working against operators, not for them.

It's only as strong as its weakest layer. From sensors to analytics, every layer has to work. A polished dashboard built on bad data is worse than no dashboard.

AI has real, practical potential. Tailored insights for each user — and self-monitoring of the SCADA system itself.

The "air gap" is a false sense of security. Isolation doesn't make OT safe. It just keeps it outdated and disconnected from the tools that move utilities forward.

This is exactly the kind of SCADA we set out to build: secure, reliable, and easy to use — a single platform for alarms, data, monitoring, and control, with built-in analytics and AI, role-based access and zero-trust security, >99.9% uptime with redundant connectivity, and a mobile-friendly experience operators can actually manage themselves. At Hilton Head PSD, that looks like cellular RTUs at every remote site, centralized alarm management with voice/email/text notifications, remote dashboard access, preventive maintenance logging, and seamless integration with their existing SCADA via MQTT and OPC UA.

Huge thanks to Dave and the team at Hilton Head PSD, and to SWAN for putting together another excellent conference.

We had a great experience at NJWEA this year!

Jonathan Carreno had the opportunity to present a session on the evolution of SCADA systems—focusing on automation, cybersecurity, and how utilities are navigating the shift toward more connected, cloud-based infrastructure.

Alongside the presentation, Brian Rodriguez and Jonathan were able to exhibit in STREAMETRIC's booth. It was great to continue discussions at our booth and hear how teams are approaching similar challenges in their own systems.

We greatly appreciate everyone who took the time to connect—valuable conversations all around.

Most utilities didn't sign up to run IT servers. But that's what traditional SCADA quietly demands.

Aging infrastructure. Expensive hardware. IT teams stretched thin managing servers that should have been replaced years ago. And somewhere in the middle of all that complexity, the operators who actually need the data are jumping through hoops just to check on a site.

SCADA was supposed to make operations easier. For too many utilities, it's done the opposite.

We built STREAMETRIC to change that:

→ Cloud-Based Platform so you can access all your sites from any device — no servers, no IT overhead, no desk required
→ Mobile-Friendly Design that puts full visibility in your pocket, whether you're in the plant or in the field
→ Drag & Drop Dashboards so operators can build and customize views without calling a vendor or writing a line of code
→ Simple Alarm Creation & Notification Management that puts control in the hands of the people closest to the system
→ User Management built for real teams — easy to onboard, easy to manage, no specialized training required
→ Software as a Service model that eliminates the need for your own server infrastructure and reduces long-term maintenance costs

If your SCADA platform is harder to use than it should be, let's talk.

The best response to a utility event? Preventing it from happening in the first place.

At STREAMETRIC, advanced alarming isn't a feature add-on, it's built into the core of every solution we deliver.

Here's what that looks like in practice:

Every unit ships with real-time data collection and alarming out of the box. Operators get instant notifications by email and text. A full alarm history lives in the app for review, audit, and continuous improvement. Notification subscriptions are user-managed and alarm-specific, so the right people hear about the right events — without the noise. Custom rule sets and priorities let customers tailor the system to their actual infrastructure. And every acknowledgment is logged, so teams always know who responded and when.

The result: a preventative response instead of an expensive recovery.

Whether you're managing a pump station, a lift station, or a treatment facility — STREAMETRIC keeps eyes on your system when it matters most, so your team stays ahead of problems rather than chasing them.
