At the regularly scheduled May 7 meeting, the NC ABLE Board of Trustees conducted the official swearingâin of its newest member, Mr. Chris Wall.
The NC ABLE Program is governed by the NC ABLE Program Board of Trustees and is composed of six members, including State Treasurer Brad Briner.

Sharing the NC Financial Literacy Council's contest!
North Carolina students are invited to showcase their creativity and financial smarts in the statewide âBudgeting in 2026: Plan, Save, Thrive!â contest.
Open to grades Kâ12 across all public, private, charter, and home schools, this competition encourages students to explore what budgeting means today through essays, visual art, videos, posters, or creative writing.

ABLE account contributions are deposits made into a tax-advantaged savings account for people with disabilities, subject to annual limits ($20,000 in 2026) and used for qualified disability expenses. If you are a working account holder, you may be able to save more than the annual limit.

The ABLE Savings Plans Network of NAST is partnering with the National Association of Social Security Claimantsâ Representatives (NOSSCR) on an internal educational training for ASPN and NAST members. NOSSCR is the leading association for attorneys and advocates who represent Social Security Disability (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) claimants throughout their adjudicative process.
Their experts will help provide background on SSAâs process for SSI/SSDI, in-depth details related to the benefits, AND how ABLE accounts help people with disabilities keep the benefits that they need, even when they go to work!
