My Normal Gay Life delves into the many aspects of my life including travel, home and garden, lifestyle, and family topics. This is my way of bringing the world into your home and hopefully motivating you to get out there and live your normal!
I’ll teach Ezzie everything I know. He loves being outdoors!
Wild foraging is one of my nerdy little hobbies. I collect plants for my garden, plus food, and medicinal stuff. I always stick to private property. I’ve even have part of my workshop set up for apothecary projects. It’s niche but I really enjoy it and just wish I had more time for it.
Early spring cleanup is reminding me that a lot of gardening is just weeding and deciding what belongs. Not every plant deserves a spot just because it showed up and if it’s growing where it shouldn’t be, it’s a weed…even if it’s an oak sapling.
This old tree drops acorns everywhere so I’m out here pulling saplings by the hundred. It has me thinking about how easy it is to let things take root just because they can.
But similar to the garden, not everything growing in your life is meant to stay. Some things need space and others need to be cleared out. This applies to people, thoughts and ideas, and stuff in general. It’s not glamorous but it’s part of keeping things healthy.
Take a little stroll with me through my early Spring garden. It’s all a mess from the winter because we leave it for the bugs and pollinators. It’s time to start cleaning up but let’s see what’s in bloom.
My motto this year is “Know your worth.” I will not stay in situations that are toxic or tolerate people who are disrespectful for no good or productive reason. I know what I bring to the table.
That goes for professional and personal situations.
I started to see that last year and I’m doubling down on it this year.
