Hand Knitting, Crochet & Loom Knitting Hi there! Come knit, crochet, and loom knit with me!

My mission is to make knitting and crochet accessible to all through a positive and practical approach to education, patterns, and more.

I’m not 100% calm 100% of the time…

Far from it.

Most teachers I know aren’t. That’s because we know the answer to a stressful situation is not in the action but in the response. Sometimes we don’t have control over how the body responds because we’re not sure what’s going on.

Bringing awareness through crochet allows us to get in touch with our body through a comfortable and safe lens. Once we are aware once…it’s easier to keep coming back to it.

If you’re interested in more, DM me. Let’s talk about how we can dive deeper.

Have a few minutes?

Let’s reset your system. All you need is a hook, some yarn, and a safe space to relax.

Save this for when you need it. Send it to a friend who could use a moment to themselves. To release that tension in their shoulders. To relax that jaw. To simply exhale.

Blanket pattern is my newest kit with the Heirloom Diamond Blanket. Kit and individual pattern available.

And if you want a deeper nervous system reset, let me know. We can schedule a session.

This is what I’m building my entire practice around.

Craft is medicine.

This is for all my friends who’re struggling with burnout.

There’s a solution.

Crochet helps us slow down, center, and actually be in our bodies. There’s nothing else quite like it.

Somatic crochet sessions are containers where we can create a safe space to explore what we’re feeling without needing to judge it or give it a name.

One hour. Just for you.

No where else to be. Nothing else to do. I hope you’ll join me.

Most people think crochet is just a hobby.
They’re wrong.
Crochet is one of the most powerful nervous system regulation tools we have — and most of us have been using it our whole lives without knowing that’s what we were doing.
The word somatic just means of the body. Not the thinking mind. The felt sense of being alive in your own skin.
When your hands are moving in a pattern they already know, your thinking mind gets quiet. The rhythm takes over. And in that space, your nervous system has permission to process what it’s been holding.
Grief. Stress. Chronic tension. The low hum of anxiety that never quite goes away.
Your body has been waiting for a way through.
Your hands already know how.
Sessions are open.

There’s a reason this blanket took months.

Not because it was difficult. But because I kept slowing down.

Each square is the same pattern – 20 times. And every single time something different happened in my body some days the rhythm was medicine some days I had to put it down and just breathe.

That’s somatic crochet. Not making faster but making truer.

The diamond heirloom blanket isn’t just a pattern. It’s a record of my presence. My days. My emotions. Every stitch is a small return to my body.

Weekend making. There's nothing quite like picking up your hook on a Saturday when the week is finally quiet.

What's on your hook right now? Drop it in the comments — I love seeing what this community is making.

I want to tell you what I actually do.

I'm a somatic crochet practitioner — which is a phrase I invented, because the work I was doing didn't have a name yet.

I use crochet as a somatic anchor in one-on-one sessions. I bring Ayurveda, nervous system awareness, and genuine presence to every hour we spend together.

If you've ever found yourself reaching for your hook when things get hard — you already understand this work intuitively.

I'm taking new clients now. Sessions on Calendly — link below.

Feel free to ask me anything. I mean that.

The Diamond Heirloom Blanket is a 20-square cotton throw designed to be the kind of thing you make once and keep forever. Or make once and give to someone who will. It’s worked in Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton DK — 100% mercerized cotton that washes beautifully, softens with time, and doesn’t quit — in Ecru and White, because I wanted nothing competing with the texture.

The diamond ridge pattern is the heart of it. It opens in Round 5 and widens one repeat per round until the geometry fills each square completely. It looks intricate from a distance. Up close, once you’re two or three squares in, your hands just know it. That’s the kind of pattern this is — the kind that becomes a rhythm.
Twenty squares. Four across, five down. Approx. 48” × 58” when finished. Intermediate skill level. The kind of project you pick up in the in-between minutes and can’t quite put down.

Three ways to get the pattern today:

📖 $7 on Ravelry — https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/diamond-heirloom-blanket

🧶 Free with the Lion Brand kit — buy the kit, pattern comes free with purchase — https://www.lionbrand.com/collections/crochet-kits/products/crochet-kit-diamond-heirloom-blanket

💌 Paid Substack subscribers already have it free in their inboxes this morning

The full story behind the pattern — why I designed it, what cotton offers that other fibers don’t, and what I hope this blanket becomes in people’s homes — is on the blog today. Worth a read if you want the whole picture before you cast on.

And one more thing: if you’ve ever felt the rhythm of a repetitive stitch and wondered what it would feel like to use that intentionally — as a genuine nervous system reset rather than just a nice side effect — I’m now offering private Somatic Crochet Practitioner sessions. It’s new, it’s something I’m deeply excited about, and there’s more information at www.rohnstrong.com

Tag me when you get started! I want to see every single stitch!
