Home prices are rising faster in the middle of the U.S. as Covid drives people away from coasts Home prices are rising across the nation, but the usual geographical trends are being turned on their heads by the coronavirus pandemic.

The S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller price index shows that home prices in the 20 largest cities have risen at a 7.9% yearly pace in October. One of the biggest factors for the rising price of homes has been the short supply of homes due to the pandemic.

The cities that saw the biggest price rise were the following:

Phoenix - 12.7%
Seattle - 11.7%
San Diego - 11.6%

realtor.com analyzed data and trends to compile a list of housing markets that are expected to be hot in 2021. Charlotte, NC ended up placing third on the list of the Top 10 housing markets of 2021.

Factors that placed Charlotte, NC #3 on the list:

• Median home price: $368,820
• Anticipated home price change: 5.2%
• Number of home sales: 13.8%
