See Saw Projects
We are an applied theatre company creating interactive theatre experiences in North Carolina run by Amy Sawyers-Williams.
See Saw is a project based applied theatre company in the Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, NC). Applied theatre utilizes theatre as a tool for social change and includes community building, educating, and healing. It is always participatory and takes place outside of the traditional theatre stage in community centers, prisons, hospitals, classrooms, senior centers etc. Contact us today to talk about collaborating!

We’re thrilled to announce that Sandbox, a subsidiary of See Saw Projects, is launching its very first production: Middlegame, a bold new play by Raleigh playwright Andrea Black.
This reimagining of Medea—told through the lens of a Black woman in America uses puppetry and masks (created in collaboration with Paperhand Puppet Intervention) to craft a visual world that is both mythic and urgent.
After a powerful first reading, Sandbox is moving into the next phase: bringing the puppets and masks to life. These elements are essential to the spiritual and symbolic language of the play, and we need your help to make them happen! No donation amount is too small.

From Andrea, “If you’ve ever been moved by stories of myth and motherhood, or the quiet injustices of everyday life, this play is for you. And if you believe in live theater as a space for transformation and truth-telling, we would love your support.”

I have been quiet on here for about a year since I had my baby, but See Saw was making art happen with communities all the while! Big shout out to Mandy Eats Moore for leading virtual acting classes with the Chapel Hill Parks & Rec Adapted Rec Program. And I'm finishing work as an artist with the Artists in Healthcare class at Duke University where I've been leading imaginative sessions with elders in memory care at Durham Center for Senior Life. Below is an image of some notes we captured when we explored our favorite things about Halloween a few weeks ago.
