Toastmasters - Captivating Dialogue
Laugh and learn is what we do at our club meetings. Guest say, "I love the supportive atmosphere"!

Reminder: We are now Toastmasters - Well Said.
Welcome to new member, Josh! He visited for his second time last week.
We also had two interesting speeches. Tim gave an inspiring and thought-provoking one titled Honor vs. Honesty. And Rich shared insight with humor about Keeping the Commitment in relation to supporting your Toastmasters club. The theme was Chocolate, but neither Mr. Wonka nor Charlie Bucket were seen.
For Table Topics, we reviewed a few tips:
* start talking and meander until an idea comes to you
* over-accept the topic
* get the audience to feel an emotion by telling a brief story
We'd love to see you at our next meeting on February 18, 12 pm.
Have a great week.
We're rebranding! Captivating Dialogue has become Well Said Toastmasters.

We have a special opportunity this Wednesday to learn from one of Toastmasters' great storytellers — Bryant Pergerson!
Bryant holds an incredible eight (8!) Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) awards and has won at every level of the International Speech Contest, all the way up to competing brilliantly in the World Championship of Public Speaking Finals.
Recently, Bryant moved back to the Carolinas and is now actively involved in our District leadership — so it’s a real privilege for us to host him at our meeting!
Invite your guests to join us — either in person or online.
Bryant will deliver a special presentation designed just for us. To get the most out of it, he recommends reading this article before the meeting:

Kevin Snyder will be our Toastmaster this Wednesday 4/30 at 12:00 PM!
Mark your calendars — you don't want to miss it! (Don’t let FOMO — Fear of Missing Out — get you!)
If you’re joining virtually, here’s our Zoom link to attend and to share with guests:

Get ready for an amazing meeting!
See you Wednesday.
The Oldest Rule Of Compelling Writing Aristotle taught it. Hemingway used it. Matthew McConaughey still does.

We have two newer speakers this week, and I'm very excited to hear them!
Guests are always welcome and encouraged! Who do you know that wants to:
* gain self-confidence
* get over their fear of public speaking ( #1 fear, often more than death)
* learn better communication skills
* get a promotion at work
* spend time on personal growth with like-minded people
* get out of the house and have fun

Learn how to add emotion, structure, and impact to your stories. Don’t miss this chance to elevate your speaking skills!
This is a speech one of our members gave recently about a life-changing experience and the importance of questioning your beliefs.
We all like to think we’re logical, but confirmation bias has other plans. It makes us seek out info that supports what we already believe and ignore anything that challenges it. Add in information bubbles (social media algorithms feeding us what we want to see), and it’s easy to get stuck in an echo chamber.
Real growth comes from questioning your deeply held beliefs. Ask yourself:
❓ What if I’m wrong?
❓ What sources am I NOT considering?
❓ Am I seeking truth or just validation?
Be curious. Challenge your assumptions. The world is bigger than our biases.
If you virtually attended our special presentation by David Brooks yesterday, and would like a copy of the notes from his presentation and Q&A session, please email us:

As a reminder, we will have a Storytelling Workshop on April 30. It will be presented in person by Bryant Pergerson, District 117’s Club Growth Director and former Toastmaster of the Year. This will be an exceptional opportunity to learn from a very talented speaker! Guests are welcome to attend either in person or virtually.
